Delibar for iPhone Syncs Bookmarks In The Cloud - Review & Giveaway

I don’t really save bookmarks anymore like I used to, but I know hundreds of thousands of users out there save any kind of content every day on popular services like Delicious, Pinboard and historio.us. I’m out of the bookmarking game, maybe because my browser’s address bar became so smart I can type a few characters and get back to that post I needed. Or maybe because I save the stuff I want as starred items in Google Reader and faves in Twitter or then again, maybe I was just tired of bookmarking. Like I said, though, bookmarking services are far from dead, even if people like me stopped using them.

The White iPhone 4 Shows Up Again. In Apple’s Own Store App.

MacRumors forum member Bandolier spotted an interesting iPhone model up for reservation in the updated Apple Store app: the white iPhone 4.

When you open the app, press Store, Reservations, Reserve Products, iPhone, and from there you are now able to select the white iPhone 4 (16 and 32 GB) to reserve.

Unfortunately, when you select a white iPhone the app seem to return the following message:

Because of high demand, we are not currently taking iPhone reservations.

I’ve personally tried and when I tap on the Store tab I get a “We’ll be back soon” message. Perhaps it’s because I’m in Italy, or maybe Apple is already fixing the error. But then again, maybe this is not an error at all and we’ll really hear white iPhone 4 news later today or this week.

As you may know, Apple was expected to release the white model together with the black one, but alleged manufacturing problems forced the company to delay the release date. Two weeks ago a “gentleman” was spotted in New York carrying an iPhone 4.

Apple Store App Update Goes Live

Just like we previously reported, Apple has updated its official Apple Store iPhone app to include support for reservations, check-ins and locations services.

The free 1.1 update, available in the App Store here, also introduces support for engraving and free wrapping, the possibility to add reservations to iCal. iOS 4 is required to access the new check-in based features.

iPhone Security Hole Lets You Make Calls When The Phone Is Locked

It seems like there’s a huge bug in iOS 4.1 for iPhone: with a combination of sleep / power button and a fake emergency call, it is possible to access the iPhone’s contact list and phone keypad even if the device is locked. I personally tested the method and, indeed, it works: I was able to bypass iOS’ passcode lock check and make a phone call to a friend of mine. Read more

Fast Copy Makes Copy & Paste on iOS Faster | Cydia

Remember when iPhone users couldn’t copy and paste on their devices? Back in the iPhone OS 1.x and 2.x days, that was one of the most serious issues Apple had to face when haters attacked. Back in those same days, Cydia developers released independent implementations of copy & paste to enable users to have a better workflow.

Apple then introduced copy & paste through a popup menu in iPhone OS 3, and Ryan Petrich released its popular Action Menu hack in Cydia to make it better, with more features and more powerful. Now, with iOS 4 it’s time to make copy & paste faster. Read more

Twitterrific 4 for Mac: A Sneak Peek

As promised last weekend on Twitter, the Iconfactory has just posted the very first sneak peek of Twitterrific 4.0 for Mac, a major new version of the popular Twitter client.

There’s no release date or pricing info yet, but the app will require Snow Leopard due to some of its new features and, from the looks of it, it appears that Twitterrific for iOS highly inspired the development of this new version.

VLC for iPhone Now Available

VLC, the popular media player already ported by developer Applidium to the iPad, is now available as a universal app for iPhone. The latest 1.1.0 update, approved last night, adds support for iPhone 4, 3GS and latest gen iPod Touches, introduces in-app file management without the need of having to go through iTunes to delete files and increases the compatibility of the app with different filetypes.

No word yet if the app supports beta versions of iOS 4.2, guess we’ll have to find out on our own.

Specifically, Apple envisions a future where your phone integrates into various retail stores and commercial establishments (such as libraries) through temporary, location based applications. iPad Vs. Mac - Le Graphique

So how well is the iPad doing, exactly? Apple sold 7.46 million units since the release date through September 25th; analysts regard the iPad as the fastest selling consumer electronic device in history. How about the Mac? It outsold Apple’s computers too, in just two quarters.

Take a look at the chart below, courtesy of Horace Dediu. The iPad has been around for 6 months; Macs have been on the market for 322 months. Oh, and it’s not that Macs have slowed down: they’ve grown faster than the overall PC industry.
