Since setting up my new Mac mini beginning in March, I’ve taken the opportunity to clean up my menu bar apps. I have mixed feelings about menu bar apps. On the one hand, they are an excellent way to expose features of an app that you can access without having to launch the full...
Keep It
Keep It is where I store research and reference materials. When it comes to research, the app’s strength is that you can throw just about anything at it: PDFs, URLs, web archives, images, and other kinds of files. Keep It can also create plain text, rich text, and Markdown documents, which makes it an...
App Debuts
VectorPad VectorPad debuted this past week as a new app for converting illustrations and images into vector graphics, which can then be used to create 3D extrusions, 3D printable objects, AR objects, and more. The app supports converting graphics into SVG, PDF, and DXF formats, as well as Swift code, and pairs well with...
Q&A
Question: I’m new to Shortcuts and have two questions. First, could you recommend a good, thorough Shortcuts user guide? Second, I want to build a very simple shortcut to replace manually navigating through multiple layers of the iOS Settings app to get to a specific accessibility option, but I can’t find a way to do...

Apple’s Multi-Layered Transition from Owned to Streamed Music
I have tens of thousands of songs on a Mac mini that I ripped from CDs I bought going back to the mid-80s. For a long time, I carefully managed those songs in iTunes, tweaking metadata and syncing a selection of them to iPods and iOS devices. When Apple Music came along though, everything...
