Life Web Browser 1.5 Introduces iPhone Version and…Pull To Refresh?
Life is an alternative web browser for iPad I reviewed back in June. The app was quite nice, but I ended up uninstalling it due to its numerous bugs. The feature set was interesting, though:
Life Web Browser tries a different approach, and it does so by telling us that we don’t need tabs and pages, we need to swipe.
Aseid Ghaffari and his team found out that users don’t find Safari’s behavior with new links exactly comfortable. Apple’s Safari forces you to go back and forth between a dashboard with thumbnails of pages, and another take on the subject such as iCab’s desktop-like tabs didn’t impress Ghaffari either. If it’s not about copying the desktop and it’s not about changing pages, then it definitely must be about gestures – the developers thought. So there you have it, you horizontally swipe between “windows”.
The latest 1.5 update, approved and released a few days ago, introduces iPhone support (the app is now Universal) and a couple of new options such as “Open sites” and pull to refresh for webpages. What, really? Read more
Watch Videos While Surfing on Your iPad
Who said you can’t ‘multitask’ on an iPad (without installing the iOS developer beta)? Geeky Gadgets has a tutorial for a DIY HUD adapter/dock that holds your iPhone on top of your iPad. View media on your iPhone and surf the web on your iPad at the same time. Read more
Gene Munster, Well-Known Apple Analyst, Claims Android Tablets Will Beat The iPad
Piper Jaffray’s Gene Munster is a well-known Apple analyst, one of those that usually predict great numbers and results from Apple. This time around, though, when talking to Business Insider’s Henry Lodget he had to say that Android tablets will eventually have more market share than Apple’s iPad, and Android is going to be the most important mobile platform of the next decade. The Incident: Whatʼs New In 1.2
The Incident (our previous review) is undoubtedly one of the funnest and most addicting games on the App Store today. The retro styled smash hit became immediately popular with everybody, young and old. This past couple of weeks Iʼve had the pleasure of testing out the newest update to The Incident.
One of the biggest complaints with the original version was the lack of an endless mode. Well, rest assured your wishes were heard and thereʼs a new mode called “Endless Nightfall.” Complete with awesome new music from Cabel Sasser himself, Endless nightfall has some awesome additions to an already awesome game.
My Very First App - Review & Giveaway
This review is a little different than most reviews on MacStories, it’s targeted towards children. I have a 4 year old son and a 2 year old daughter, so this app was an easy one for me to grab onto. For what it’s worth, I have always been very protective of my iPhone, afraid it could get scratched or dropped but I couldn’t help but to break my old ways and let my kids start playing with it. Amazing iPad Optical Illusions Bring Images to Life
We have seen examples of art applied to the iPad before: remember the iPad light paintings ? I’m not afraid to call that “art”: with the technology of today and the creativity of real artists, it is possible to come up with modern implementations of old art forms.
Today’s video shows what it’s possible to do with static images on an iPad and a transparent overlay sheet. The result is mind-blowing, especially the last animation. Check out the video below, then share. It’s incredible.
iPolitics: German Parliament Replacing Paper with iPads
The iPad is a mainstream success that keeps on giving. With almost 10 millions units already sold (or so they say) and more than 30.000 apps in the iPad App Store, people are sure loving the tablet. We also heard it’s pretty successful in enterprise and business: large corporations are already deploying iPads, which makes me wonder about what’s going to happen with the new enterprise features that’ll come with iOS 4.2 in November.
My Adventure With A Mysterious Instapaper Clone
This is an interesting story about an app I found in the App Store two days ago. Just like every night before I go to sleep, I opened AppShopper to take a quick look at new apps that could be worth a mention on MacStories. I’ve been looking for new great iPad apps recently, but universal ones are, of course, more than welcome.
So I stumbled upon this new application with a nice looking icon called “Reader Mode” which, supposedly, enabled you to browse the web and switch to a text-only view (for long articles with the tap of a button). It was universal and priced at $0.99. I bought it. Read more
