I always talk about applications that get the most out of Mac OS X interface, so there’s no doubt I deeply admire the work Apple has put into creating a beautiful and usable design - refined overtime. On the other hand, it’s very likely that you’ve grown tired of Mac OS X standard UI elements and you’d like to apply some modifications. Apple To Launch 22-inch Touch Screen Mac?

“According to a report this morning from Chinese language Commercial Times, Apple will launch a new 22-inch touch-enabled all in one computer this year. This new model would be in addition to the current iMac lineup that includes a 21.5 inch and 27 inch models.”

Wait.

A touch screen Mac? Running Mac OS X 10.6? Doesn’t make sense.

We have the Slate PC for that, you know.

Dear Apple: What We Want to See in iPhone 4.0 [Part 2]

After the first part, which was about the software, TUAW has posted the second part of the “Dear Apple” series. The second part puts the focus on hardware and here are the most wanted specs for the “new iPhone”:

  • Status Indicator Light

  • New Design

  • Front Facing Camera

  • 5MP Camera

  • OLED Display

  • LED Flash

  • 64GB Storage

I don’t agree with these as much as I agreed with software. Seriously, front facing camera? I don’t want to talk about the italian providers and their coverage, but you american guys - weren’t you complaining about AT&T until 2 days ago? Oh sure: you want to make conference calls on wi-fi. As if a laptop wouldn’t be enough under a wifi connection.

Then, OLED display. Well, at least let’s hope it won’t be as OLED as the Nexus One display, right?

Thoughts App Is Finally Available

Thoughts, the awesome Mac application aimed at journalists, storywriters, bloggers and creative people we reviewed while it was in private beta, has finally gone public and ready to be downloaded.

For those who missed our article, Thoughts is a complete information assistant which allow you to create rich documents containing notes, links, pictures, tables and lists - in a beautiful interface. You should really check it out and see it by yourself.

Create Text Documents in Finder: “New Text File Here” Gets an Update

Some weeks ago I asked on Twitter whether there was a nice way to quickly create a new text documents in Finder, much like you can do on Windows. Jonas Wisser, one of my followers and  blogger over at Malum Elegans, created an Applescript app for that purpose called “New Text File Here” which you can drag into the Finder’s toolbar and creates a .txt file in the folder you’re in. The script got picked by Download Squad and Lifehacker.

I just received a reply by Jonas, regarding a “new, much cleaner version” of the script. Let’s call it “New Text File Here 2”. From the blog post:

“This version asks you for a filename (instead of creating new.txt) and subsequently opens it in your default .txt-handling application (the old version didn’t).”

It’s simply the best and most intuitive solution I’ve tried so far. Go download.

Delicious Library: Cataloguing, Made Beautiful.

Everyday I save a lot of stuff from my internet life: links, pictures, videos..all my digital life usually goes into some applications I use as “buckets” where I throw all these digital media. They’re Yojimbo, LittleSnapper and the recently released web application ZooTool. Having a complete organizer application is usually a good practice, especially if that app supports tags, smart collections and a quite usual folder structure. Now, what about organizing the stuff from my “real” life? I’m talking about CDs, DVDs, gadgets, videogames and so on. Some well sorted room shelves can actually do the job but we’re Mac people - we need an app for that.
