Years ago, RCA Victor (now just RCA) symbolized a dog named Nipper looking into a Phonograph as their advertising icon. Look how far we’ve come - Nipper is being replaced with an iPhone, thus the Phonofone III by Science and Sons.

Dutch Newspaper Gifting iPads with New Subscriptions
The Dutch newspaper ‘nrc•next’ is giving free iPads to people who sign up to receive their printed subscription for two years and it also includes their daily digital iPad App version.
This is a great idea to grow your readership but they underestimated the response to their subscription promotion. Now they have posted a page on their blog “Zeg, waar blijft die iPad?” which translates to “Say, where is my iPad?” It’s basically a Q & A for people who signed up for their promotion and have yet to receive their new iPads.
Dialvetica - Call, Text or Email in Two Taps
Mysterious Trousers, the makers of Calvetica, released a new pair of pants last week called Dialvetica, an app for quickly accessing contacts. It lets you call, text or email someone in just two quick taps. “This is not a contact manager, it is a contact contacter.” Let me explain exactly what they mean.
Apple Big Winner at 2010 LA Auto Show
The Los Angeles Auto Show is one of the biggest, baddest auto conventions in the world. With all of the innovations and breakthroughs in the auto industry this year, it was the way in which the manufacturers communicated with the audience within the Los Angeles Convention Center walls that was unique. Every car manufacturer that had any serious interest in interacting with their consumers used Apple products.
Many young women were holding iPads asking for attendees email addresses and as the post from Cosby Sweaters says, “There might be more efficient ways to retrieve valuable customer contact information, but nothing is more fun and personal than a pretty girl with an iPad.”
Touchscreen displays have been popular at car shows over the past few years and the technology has gotten more popular. Apple has made it easy for exhibitors to effectively and easily integrate touch screen devices in their showroom areas, and the price is relatively inexpensive. Many times iPads were getting more atention that the cars themselves. The iPads (and iPod Touches as well) were being used to show short films, picture gallerys or promote car-based apps.
Some companies, like Nissan, had a space so big that iPads were not big enough so they placed several iMacs with touch-screen capabilties around their exhibiting space. There was even a ‘wall of iDevices’ made for the Lexus booth.
As Cosby Sweaters put is so nicely, “One could say that the touchscreen interface or the tablet won the auto show, but that assumption is completely false. Others tried. Apple still dominated. At General Motors showcases, over-sized Verizon Android phones littered about, illustrating GM car models and OnStar service. These were largely walked past and ignored. Why? Because over-sized Android phones do not exist in the real world and the over-sized buttons surely did not work either. Come back when you are trendy.”

iPad Drawings on Display in Paris
The iPad drawings of David Hockney are being displayed at the Pierre Bergé in Paris. The Yves Saint Laurent Foundation dedicated its 14th exhibition to over 200 of Hockney’s iPhone and iPad drawings. It’s showing now thru January 30th, 2011. If I lived there, this would be so cool to go see. If you’re close, check it out!
Hockney used the Brushes.app to create these digital paintings and the way he carried his iPad around was very original - custom pockets in his suits, which you can read more about here. His jacket pocket has a deep inside pocket that the iPad, or as he calls it ‘sketchbook’, fits snugly into.
Another cool thing about the exhibition is that it is being presented on iPhones and iPads; the brightness and vibrant color originally intended by the artist are respected. To see a video from the exhibition, click here. This is just another example of what a great product Apple’s iDevices are, they can be used in so many ways and people keep coming up with great ideas to use it for.

Preview: Kiwi 2 Sneak Peek
Back in April, Cody Fink posted a very thorough review of the 1.0 release of Kiwi for Mac, but now it’s time to follow up with a little sneak peek of version 2 - due out tomorrow, November 24. Yourhead, the company that makes Kiwi, has given me a little taste and I have to say the new version adds some great new features to an already very nice Mac desktop client.
Delta’s JFK Terminal Adding iPads
Anyone headed to New York’s JFK airport soon via Delta Airlines? Is a strip search worth a trip? Maybe not, but if you happen to be at the JFK airport, visit the Delta terminal to check this out.
Amazon Releases Price Check for iPhone
The giant online retailer, Amazon, just released their new product scanning app for iPhone - Price Check. You can use your iPhone to compare prices with Amazon and its merchants wherever you are. You can search their online database using barcode, picture, voice and text search. That’s more options than what comparitive apps like eBay’s recently acquired RedLaser and the new ShopSavvy (which I like) apps.
