Webcorder: iPhone Browser That Can Record Quicktime Videos

Available at $0.99 in the App Store, Webcorder is a rather simple browser for iPhone that doesn’t come with breakthrough functionalities or a beautiful interface. Instead, it stands out because it allows you to capture a Quicktime video of your web browsing session.

Webcorder’s icon isn’t optimized for the Retina Display, nor does its actual interface show some love for Apple’s shiny pixels. Once you fire up the app, though, you’ll notice two things: an address bar and a record button. Hit the button, start browsing and the app will record what’s going on.

The app won’t record streaming audio or video. Once you’re done recording, you can copy the video to the Photos app or email it to a friend. Webcorder can also take snapshots of web pages, although I don’t know why you’d want to take snapshots in-app considering Apple’s screenshot implementation. The quality of videos recorded through Webcorder isn’t too shabby.

Overall, Webcorder is an easy way to save a Quicktime video of mobile browsing session. Perhaps you’d like to take a look at DisplayRecorder if you need something more powerful and customizable (requires jailbreak) but for everything else, Webcorder is a good option.
