Greg Packer. A Hardcore Line Squatter.

Meet Greg Packer. He’s showed up pretty early to get his iPhone 4, and Gazelle is even sponsoring him to represent his insatiable lust to be first in line. But what’s surprising is that he can’t even describe half the features of the new iPhone, really only understanding that it’s better than what he has now. In his history, he’s been first for a lot of events, from the first in line at Bill Clinton’s book signing, to first in line at George W. Bush’s inauguration. Quite frankly he might just be a bit crazy.

But the moral of the story is this: If you’re first in line and you’re pretty good at it, you get a sponsor. And you’re also likely to get a free iPhone 4.

Get there early people.

FarmVille for iPhone Now Available

Announced at the last WWDC keynote in San Francisco, FarmVille is one of the most anticipated apps for the iPhone. Apple has finally approved Zynga’s game, which is now slowly propagating in iTunes.

As announced by Zynga’s CEO Mark Pincus at the WWDC, the iPhone version of FarmVille comes with iPhone-specific features such as push notifications, so that you won’t miss anything of what’s new in your farm.

It’s already live in the New Zealand store. [Link]

iPhone Takes 20% Smartphone Market Share from Nokia in Finland

Taking a bite out of Nokia’s market share is big news no matter where it’s reported, and Apple is setting their sights on world domination as they take on the leading phone giant. I haven’t seen anything innovative from Nokia in a while, and as they grow stale, the iPhone 4’s fresh take on the smartphone market is just what Apple needs to wrap things up. With 20% of the smartphone market captured in Finland (a small part of an ever young battleground), it’s a pretty clear example of where things are likely headed. More iPhones in more places.

Remove Recents Hides iOS Apps That Don’t Support Multitasking

The most important feature of iOS 4 is multitasking and, look, we get it. You’re now able to quickly switch between apps and go back to the exact place you left off the app. It’s cool, and it works good. The problem is, there are too many apps that still don’t support the new multitasking APIs, and it’s kind of annoying to get these apps in the multitasking drawer, tap on them and find out that they haven’t been updated for iOS’ persistent state.

Fortunately for jailbroken users, the solution is in Cydia.

The White iPhone 4 Won’t Be Available Until 2nd Half of July

Apple has just issued a press release about the availability of the iPhone 4:

“White models of Apple’s new iPhone® 4 have proven more challenging to manufacture than expected, and as a result they will not be available until the second half of July. The availability of the more popular iPhone 4 black models is not affected.”

Does this mean countries like Italy will get the iPhone 4 after July 15th, in white as well? We’re still waiting for an official release date.

iPhone 4 Craziness: Standers Collapse, Conan Drops in the Line, iSpazio Flies to Paris

Oh, what people do when a new Apple device is coming out. After all, this time we’re talking about the iPhone 4, with its amazing new Retina Display and sleek new design - how can’t people go crazy about it?

TUAW has collected some pictures of people standing in line at the 5th Avenue NYC Apple Store, and man - CoCo himself dropped in to say hi to some Apple fans. Check out the pictures below. Also, another guy standing in line collapsed in the middle of the street and emergency personnel had to close the street while he was treated.  As for people standing in line, the first iPhone 4 camper was spotted last week. I wonder if he’s still there.

But you haven’t seen anything yet. My good friends over at iSpazio and iPadevice decided to fly to France (Paris) to buy an unlocked iPhone 4. Here’s the liveblog that has been going on for 2 days now, and if you happen to speak Italian it’s pretty amazing. We’re embedding a couple of photos and videos below.

People do crazy stuff for Apple. We’ve got proof after the break.

A Review of the iPhone 4 By an Early Adopter

Sometimes it’s just about luck. Sometimes, it’s about FedEx shipping your iPhone 4 early. No, I didn’t get an iPhone 4 and neither did Cody. But my friend Jeff Broderick of ekindesigns is among those few people in the US who got a unit early and managed to successfully activate it via iTunes.

As he told me that he got an iPhone 4, I asked him to report his first impressions to us. More than just a few impressions, he actually took the time to write down a brief review for MacStories, without entering all the hardware details (which you’ve probably already read in Engadget’s insightful review yesterday) but focusing on how this new device feels instead. Then he sent us photos (snapped using his old iPhone 3GS, may God bless it) and screenshots of iOS and some apps running on the iPhone 4.

Check it out after the break.
