When I look at websites like TUAW, The Apple Blog, Macgasm, or a site such as ourselves that talks about the well being of the developer community, I expect all of us to be role models for others to follow and an avenue for developer success.
Which leads me to Cult of Mac. By now all of us are aware of Sayam Aggarwal’s brazen tutorial on how to install pirated software with the intent of, “Try before you buy.” It’s a shallow cause.
If you’re a Things user on Mac OS X, I bet that you always wanted to be able to quickly link its database to your Finder. Not just clippings - which work great - but entire standard folders linked inside Things.app. Designers, developers, users that have to deal with a large amount of files on a daily basis could really use such a feature.
Well folks, that’s exactly what a 3rd party application called Things Folders does.
The Mac community’s own John Gruber predicts we’ll see an awesome update to the Cinema Display line with the unveiling of a new 27-inch, 16:9 Cinema Display, accompanied by new Mac Pros and possibly speedier iMacs tomorrow or at a later date. This all comes at the return of The Talk Show, so Gruber must be in an incredibly good mood to give us this tidbit of info to chew on. Hopefully he’s right!
Update: Now there’s the inclusion of the Magic Trackpad we’ve been hearing about.

Another interesting update just showed up on iTunes: Osfoora, for Twitter (the iPhone version) has been updated to the 1.5 version, which introduces support for the Retina Display, a better geo-tagging and lots of bug fixes.
We previously reviewed Osfoora for iPhone here (but it’s got a lot better since then) and Osfoora HD for iPad here. I’m currently using Osfoora on my iPad but Twitterrific on the iPhone. Could this new update make me switch again? We’ll see.

UPDATE: Roger Byrne (@imrogb) reports that if you’re still running iPhone OS 3.1.x (it seems like he’s running 3.1.2) Osfoora won’t work. A bug? Maybe. If you experience it, please report to @Osfoora.

I’ll admit that while playing SNES games on your iPad or iPhone might be pretty cool, it’s near impossible to virtually replicate the use of the left and right bumpers on screen. Thanks to CP Design, they’ve finally created the iPhone gamepad we’ve been waiting for: one that actually has bumpers.
A Reeder for iPhone update in iTunes is always big news. But when everyone’s favorite client gets Retina Display support and a redesigned icon…well, that is huge news.
That’s right, the latest 2.1 update of Reeder introduces full support for the new iPhone 4 display, a shinier icon, some iOS 4 bug fixes. No new features, but I guess it’s ok for now, right? With that screen, Reeder is perfect.

Apple and related smartphone manufacturers probably aren’t happy with this one. The Library of Congress has announced new anti-circumvention exceptions to the DMCA policies that legally allow people to jailbreak or root their phones.
Today I have designated six classes of works. Persons who circumvent access controls in order to engage in noninfringing uses of works in these six classes will not be subject to the statutory prohibition against circumvention.
Computer programs that enable wireless telephone handsets to execute software applications, where circumvention is accomplished for the sole purpose of enabling interoperability of such applications, when they have been lawfully obtained, with computer programs on the telephone handset.
