What a great way to wake up: check the news and find out that El Jobso has replied to another customer mail, this time about…control and porn on the iPhone. As you can guess, the reply is quite important and noteworthy.
TechCrunch reports that Matthew, iPhone user, emailed Steve and asked him to put the “porn apps” back into the store, then allow parents to filter them for their kids. His response? If you want porn, buy an Android.
It seems like webapps for iPhone and iPad are about to get a lot better. There’s always been some skepticism about web applications having the same quality of native apps, and despite amazing tools like JQTouch and such, people were right to doubt that webapps can get even near to native applications. But things are about to change, and even if webapps won’t get as good as App Store’s apps, I’m pretty sure we’ll see something interesting coming our way.
Before the mainstream success of the iPod and, later, the iPhone, Apple was well known for making computers geared towards professionals that wanted to do some serious work with a computer and not just play some games. As of today, you can still hear many people (including me) saying that if you want to really work, you have to buy. But this is not the main story.
It happened. Gizmodo has somehow managed to get the much rumored iPhone 4G model we’ve been talking about for days now, and the thing seems definitely real. They’ve posted a complete teardown and analysis of the iPhone, which is real - it’s even got internal components labelled with Apple.
An Engadget reader running iPhone OS 4.0 on a jailbroken device found references of Facebook contacts integration into the OS. The references come in the shape of a .plist file called “FacebookContactsConstraints.plist”, but Engadget also reports that Apple may include a larger social network support by integrating services like Twitter. Indeed, it seems like “SocialKitInternal.framework” is mentioned somewhere in the OS, but they’re waiting for proof.
It looks like Engadget may have spotted the iPhone “4G” in dear ol’ San Jose. But man does it look a little funny. Round buttons? Click past the break for the link.
I’m surprised this hasn’t been done sooner (and if it has, we certainly haven’t seen it), but someone out there is starting to catalogue all of Steve Jobs’ replies onto a Tumblr blog. Perhaps the Library of Congress should cache this instead of millions of worthless tweets.
When Digg’s official app came to the iPhone, it was really stunning. It just pops with color and is incredibly functional. I feel the same way about Beatport, whose new app for the iPhone & iPod touch oozes with brilliant pixels.
