Chromium for Mac Gets Spiffy Google Instant Integration

I love Google Instant: since Google launched its new real-time updating version of the search engine last month, I’ve been using it regularly and, yeah, I like it. A lot. I know many people are out there would like to revert back to the old “type and press enter” system but hey - this is where we’re going. Sorry if you don’t like it.

For as much as I love Google Instant, when I’m in my browser I don’t really fancy manually opening Google.com every time I need to fire up a new query. My searches start from the new Omnibar instead (Google’s definition of the address bar) because the Cmd + L shortcut is just too useful and fast. For this reason, I’ve been looking forward to the Google team baking Google Instant right into the browser and finally, we Mac users can have it: the Chromium trunk channel for Mac was updated earlier today to include support for Instant right out of the box. Posterous Releases Official iPhone App

Posterous, the popular free blogging platform that’s been called many times in the past the “real alternative to Tumblr”, just got an official iPhone client. The app, simply called Posterous and free in the App Store, allows you to send posts with any kind of text and media in it to your Posterous powered blog. The app is meant to be running on devices with iOS 4 multitasking: you can select material to upload to your blog, close the app and open another one, the upload will continue in the background. Microsoft Press and O’Reilly Media Books Now Available In The iBookstore

If you opened the iBookstore this morning, you might have noticed that two big publishers jumped on board: O’Reilly Media and Microsoft Press books are available for sale in the iBooks app for iPads and iPhones. Actually, Microsoft Press books are distributed and sold by O’Reilly, so that would make one huge publisher with nearly 800 titles on sale in the iBookstore. Read more

Monitor and Geotag Your iPhone Data Usage with DataMan

If you have an iPhone and a contract with your carrier (of course you guys in the US do), then I guess you’re obsessed with data usage tracking: how many messages can you send per month? What’s the threshold for mobile internet access? How much have you consumed this week? Depending on the country and carrier, the experience can be terrible. Fortunately, I have a pretty good plan with 3 Italia over here (4 GB internet / month, 400 SMS, 800 minutes voice) so I haven’t really worried about keeping track of my usage - I understand, though, that this is a problem for many.

Yahoo! Messenger 2.0 Available With Video Calling

Announced last week, an update to the official Yahoo Messenger app has just been released in the App Store. The new 2.0 version brings video calling to the iPhone, thus directly competing with Apple’s FaceTime…if you’re a Yahoo! Messenger user. Among other features, multitasking and support for iOS notifications.

My 20 Must-Have Cydia Apps & Tweaks for iPhone

Until 2 days ago I was running iOS 4.2 beta on my iPhone 4. Then limera1n came out, and considering that 4.2 beta wasn’t’t exactly running “smoothly” on my iPhone, and furthermore considering the lack of breakthrough features of 4.2 for the iPhone, I decided to go back to 4.1 and jailbreak once again. You can read everything about iOS 4.1 and the compatible Cydia apps here.

I missed jailbreak. I missed the tweaks and the customization, the possibility to FaceTime on 3G and the unlimited apps in folders. I missed just about everything of what the jailbreak community offers, and that’s what you get by living on the edge of software. When I went back to 4.1 and started pulling apps from Cydia again, I realized there’s this list of apps and tweaks I install every time a new jailbreak is out. Every single time.

Meet The Magic Mouse iPhone - I’m Sorry, What?

Oh, Chinese knock-offs. I love them: not because I’m looking forward to buying one, but because they show the…creativity of people who can’t do anything but copy. Badly. The Incident: Whatʼs New In 1.2

The Incident (our previous review) is undoubtedly one of the funnest and most addicting games on the App Store today. The retro styled smash hit became immediately popular with everybody, young and old. This past couple of weeks Iʼve had the pleasure of testing out the newest update to The Incident.

One of the biggest complaints with the original version was the lack of an endless mode. Well, rest assured your wishes were heard and thereʼs a new mode called “Endless Nightfall.” Complete with awesome new music from Cabel Sasser himself, Endless nightfall has some awesome additions to an already awesome game.
