I had held off on reviewing SyncMate for some time now. Though when I finally bit the bullet, I found its unassuming looks mask an application with potential. Not only does SyncMate make syncing my Android phone to my Mac completely pretty easy, I’m able to share files with Macs and Windows PCs on my local network, dump files onto flash drives from specific folders, and keep my flash drive loaded with the latest college documents just in case.

SoloFlight for Mac Lets You Stay Focused
Some applications are simple, yet useful. On Mac OS X, some apps are so simple they don’t even have a visible UI. I can name a few of those apps which help me every single day in getting things done and save time.
SoloFlight for Mac lets you stay focused and keeps your Mac desktop uncluttered.
Flash 10.1 for Mac Updated with Hardware Acceleration
MacRumors is reporting that Flash 10.1 for Mac has finally been updated to include support for hardware-accelerated decoding of video content, which offers a smoother playback and eats less battery. At least Adobe says so.
Adobe project manager Thibault Imbert:
“We just pushed a few minutes ago a new version of the Flash Player 10.1.82.76 containing a nice feature that was in beta until now called “Gala”. Yes, H.264 GPU decoding in Mac OSX is now officially enabled in the Flash Player.
You should notice now a nice difference when playing H.264 content on your Mac in terms of CPU usage. We rarely enable new features in security releases but we really wanted to enable such a cool feature.”

FilterTwitter Safari Extension Guarantees Ego Boost
When @justin was mauled with millions of Justin Bieber fans mistakenly tweeting him about possible high school relationships, marriage, and preteen squeels of love, there was probably an intense scramble to filter out these horrendous tweets. But as fans wrongly dog piled on top of this poor soul, we return to the good ol’ days of geek knowledge to rehash an important value: “If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em.”
Speed-Up Gives you an iTunes Playback Throttle
Audiobook and podcast listeners might be a little more impatient than most. Occasionally we come across that news podcast or something that doesn’t require our full attention. When time is of the essence, why not speed things up a little bit? Speed-Up by WetFish Software is an incredibly simple application that sits in your menubar and allows you to adjust the playback speed of currently playing items in iTunes. While speeding through some of the blogger podcasts just to get the gist, I got thinking, “What would a Molly Rant sound like at .25x the speed?” You’ll just have to download the application and a BOL podcast to find out.
Simple utility status: Not for everyone, but it works like a charm. Licenses come at $5 a pop.

Safari Extensions Monday: Sessions, KeySearch, Instapaper in Google Reader
I spent a week using the latest Firefox 4 Beta and now I’m back to Safari. I can’t help it, but Safari has the best support for 1Password out there and that, combined with amazing tools such as ClickToFlash, is too valuable to me. If you add stability, speed and elegance to the mix - I guess you know what I mean.
So, Apple launched the official Safari Extensions Gallery last week, and there are more than 100 “officially approved” extensions in there. It’s a good place to discover new stuff, but I’m wondering how often Apple will update it. Anyway, I’ve just installed three new extensions to start the week, and they’re pretty great.
