I’m sorry folks, bad news for those of you who were waiting for the white iPhone 4. It has been delayed again, Apple has just released a statement about it.
“CUPERTINO, Calif., July 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ – White models of Apple’s new iPhone® 4 have continued to be more challenging to manufacture than we originally expected, and as a result they will not be available until later this year. The availability of the more popular iPhone 4 black models is not affected.”
Oh, you’re so funny Samsung. You designed an ad with “Hello” on top, but instead of Ls you put bars in there. Oh, so funny.
Now, please remind us what’s your exact status in the smartphone market, please. It’s so easy to hide mistakes by making fun of someone else.
It’s clear that Apple wants the whole Antennagate thing to stop, but people can’t help but releasing spoof videos - and they’re actually pretty funny. Here’s a new one: Darth Vader calls Apple, asking about his iPhone 4.
As TechCrunch reports, the choice lines:
“Are you seriously defending the new phone by saying that it almost performs as well as the old phone? Is that what the plan is?”
“So everybody gets hit with 4 times the radiation just because these idiots can’t work together?”
“Ha ha, and get what, the EVO? I mean those poor saps are having light leaks and their screens peeling off after a couple of days.”
“And don’t even get me started on the Droid X. Uh, let’s see, you take the original phone, remove the physical keyboard, make it as big as a toaster, and still don’t add a front-facing camera? Yeah, that’s progress.”
“Look, just level with me: it’s AT&T isn’t it? If it is just cough or something.”
Where exactly is Apple going with this? An old Apple patent “Advertisement in Operating System” was republished as a continuation this week, garnering interest in whether a model like this would be pursued or if it would even be popular.
Admittedly developers and teams can have a helluva time testing at scale. Bugs are squashed, the experience is perfect, yet you don’t want to be left releasing a slew of updates through the next month to fix potential issues. Worse, if you’re a cloud based service, you want to make sure you won’t get absolutely crushed by a positive influx of consumer interest. So what do you do? Test at scale before releasing the next greatest alternative to Dropbox, that’s what.
Oh, when they talk about good timing. I was actually thinking about this a few minutes ago, and here’s a major update for 1Password Pro. The latest 3.5 version (universal for iPhone and iPad) introduces full support for iOS 4 and iPhone 4 (with high-resolution graphics), Dropbox sync and a new “Look up in 1Password” iPad bookmarklet. (update: tested, works great on the iPad)
Together with bug fixes and improvements, we also have new auto-lock features for multitasking - a pretty much needed option for devices running the new OS. The app comes at $14.99 in the App Store and it’s available here.

I wasn’t under the impression that iOS 4 had penetrated so much of the iPhone world already, but according to Chitika Research, iOS 4 is running on nearly half of all the iPhones currently in consumer’s hands. As of July 15th, ten percent of current iOS 4 users have updated to 4.0.1.
A few hours ago Apple released an update for Mac OS X Server, which reaches version 10.6.4 Update 1.1. Check out the full changelog after the break.
It looks like Steve wants more Apple Stores around the world. You know, he’s never satisfied - and can you blame it with those breaking earnings they posted earlier this week?
Anyway, as TUAW and Macsimum News report, two new Apple retail stores are opening this week: a new store in Lexington, KY opening this Saturday at 10am and another store in Columbus, OH.
