White iPhone 4 Delayed Again To “Later This Year”

I’m sorry folks, bad news for those of you who were waiting for the white iPhone 4. It has been delayed again, Apple has just released a statement about it.

“CUPERTINO, Calif., July 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ – White models of Apple’s new iPhone® 4 have continued to be more challenging to manufacture than we originally expected, and as a result they will not be available until later this year. The availability of the more popular iPhone 4 black models is not affected.”

A few days ago we reported that the white models might be delayed upon color issues, and it turns out to be true:

“Specifically, the factory’s still working out the perfect combination of paint thickness and opacity — the former to ensure the next sub-contractor has enough clearance for the digitizer overlay, and the latter for the absolute whiteness that Jony Ive and co. strive for. As we pointed out before, the prototype white covers we acquired appeared a touch darker than the iPhone 4 dock, so here’s hoping that we’ll see a better result when the official white phone comes out later this month.”

I’m really sorry for you guys who were waiting for it, and I wonder if this is going to affect Apple’s sales of the new iPhone in any way. Probably yes.

Oh by the way, this is what the white iPhone 4 looks like. Yeah, it’s beautiful.
