iPod Nano $43.73? Wow, That’s a Low Price!

iSuppli.com has estimated that the new 8GB iPod nano has a bill of materials at $43.73. This is the second-lowest BOM of all members of the iPod line. Only the 4G generation product had a less expensive BOM, at $40.80.

Fox News Reviews The Apple TV

Fox News Reviews The Apple TV

So here’s how it works. Let’s say I’m out watching an episode of Star Trek on my iPad. When I walk in my front door I can continue watching that same episode on my ginormous HDTV with the flick of a finger, and vice versa. How handy is that?

Apple told me the company has opened this feature to third-party developers, and  that’s where my imagination runs wild. Think of the possibilities! Imagine the apps you could be flicking back and forth across all of your iDevices: NPR, Netflix, YouTube, MLB, Hulu, Internet Radio, Pandora, the list goes on. AirPlay could be the most important Apple announcement in years.

Here’s to hoping for a great Apple TV commercial featuring AirPlay.

On September 9, 2010, Apple posted guidelines telling developers which applications wouldn’t be allowed into the App Store, and there was no mention of Google Voice. Soon after, the aforementioned apps were approved. Read more

PlainText: It’s Like Text Edit for iOS, Plus Sync

There’s no shortage of writing apps on the iPad. With the release of Writer by IA last week (which seems to be doing great in the App Store) and the likes of Simplenote and Elements before it, there are enough applications to satisfy any kind of user. PlainText is the latest app from well-known developer Jesse Grosjean of HogBay Software (developer of Writeroom and Taskpaper) that allows you to write in a clutter-free paper-like environment while syncing everything to Dropbox. Plus, it’s free in the App Store. Read more
