I don’t need sleep timers or particular techniques to help me fall asleep. I usually hit the sack at 6am because I can’t work anymore or I just can’t have any more Instapaper. Coffee really has no effect on me, at least not anymore. Still, if you need a good sleep timer for your iPhone and really can’t stand Decrescendo, you can take a look at ZonkOut by Guerrilla Code.
The app is beautifully designed to let you setup a sleep time and pick up a song to fall asleep with. Then, you can setup a playtime for the song and a fade out time so you can actually, ehm, fall asleep. I like the simple UI and the straightforward approach, as there’s really nothing you can do besides picking up a song and try to catch some sleep. Which is a good thing. We’re tired of overly complex applications. Side note: if you set a sleep time longer than a single song you’ve picked up, that song will go on repeat until time is up. You’re warned.
