First Look: An AppChest For Your Licenses

Storing applications licenses is quite a mess: either you have to keep a very well organized mail inbox or youàll end up having a ton of PDFs into your hard disk that donàt make any sense. Fortunately, some developers have come up with applications meant for storing applications licenses, sort of meta but it definitely works. Just take a look at App Shelf or 1Password, which comes with a dedicated feature for licenses.

Is there room for something better? Probably, and that’s what AppChest aims at.

It’s Official: Steve Will Appear On Stage at D8

We heard some rumors, and here’s the official news: Steve Jobs will make his appearance at the annual D: All Things Digital Conference this year in June,  and it will also include Ballmer, James Cameron and Mark Zuckerberg.

It’s gonna be interesting.

“Apple CEO Steve Jobs will be this year’s opening-night speaker, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer will make his fourth appearance and “Avatar” director James Cameron will appear onstage at D for the first time on the annual event’s second night.

Founded by co-producers Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher in 2003, the D conference is a gathering of the most influential figures in media and technology. Each year, Mossberg and Swisher put these top players to the test onstage during unrehearsed, unscripted conversations. The results are candid, entertaining sessions that provide glimpses into the strategies of the industry’s most creative thinkers.”

Facebook Videos Go HTML5, iPad Compatible [Update: Nope, It’s Transcoding]

This is good news, one of those you’d want to wake up in the morning with.  We’ve just found out that Facebook videos (the Facebook ones, those who used to be played in Flash. Youtube videos were already supported) are now iPad compatible, as you can watch them from your new magical device using HTML5.

It seems like this applies for new and recent videos, as some of them still give me a “You need Adobe Flash installed” error. Anyway, it’s good to see websites are slowly adopting new standards and “getting rid of the crappy stuff”.

Generate Lorem Ipsum with Loremify

Once in a while I’ll dabble in web development. Nothing too serious (I’m far from a graphic artist), but when I start piecing together various blocks of text, I often rely on filler content to aid me in formatting paragraphs, choosing fonts, and getting everything exactly the way I want it. While some probably have Lorem Ipsum generated by TextExpander, Loremify comes packaged as a neat Dashboard Widget for instant Lorem Ipsum gratification.

Wi-Fi Sync, Rejection Of The Upcoming Weeks

There are some iPhone apps you just know Apple’s going to reject, and in the best case you’re not going to be too much disappointed about it - you just know. This is exactly what is going to happen to Wi-Fi Sync, an app from developer Greg Hughes who’s managed to build a tool that lets you wirelessly sync your Mac and iPhone. What we’ve been waiting for years now, and Apple never delivered.

But we know this is not going to happen. There are a million of reasons why Apple doesn’t want something like this to be available in the App Store, and at this point I hope Greg will get over it and release the app in the Cydia Store. At least he’ll make some good bucks out of it.

Check out the demo preview of Wi-Fi Sync after the break.
