So That Would Be A Canon SLR iPhone 4 Case

People just can’t stop stuffing the iPhone 4 inside SLR cameras, can they? I don’t know if these hacks actually work or are mere geek material for posts, still I can’t help but think that they’re incredibly cool.

And the latest one we’re covering here could be the best we’ve ever found: someone really did create an iPhone 4 case out of a SLR Canon. They took out its internal parts, they re-assembled everything and stuffed the iPhone 4 inside. Could an iOS-like interface be the future of SLR cameras? I don’t know, but man - it’s great.

MoneyWell: Personal Financing Tool for iPhone

Oh, my problem with financial apps. I can’t find one to stick with, I can’t find one that enables me to achieve a decent workflow when it comes to adding transactions and managing my finances. I don’t settle. Maybe it’s beacuse I have a quite complicated setup (you know, managing multiple currencies online isn’t exactly an easy task), partially because no developer until now released the perfect iOS financial application. I mean that. MoneyBook is still the best of all the ones I’ve reviewed so far, and the developers are working hard on improving it and adding more features - especially to the web interface. I guess it’ll need a second look soon.

Anyway, today we’re here to talk about MoneyWell for iPhone. When it was released a few weeks ago it looked promising and I bought it. Oh, in case you missed my previous “finance on iOS” coverage: I don’t care about sync with Mac versions and desktop backups. I want a full-featured app for iOS. One that lets me take a quick look at my expenses, or my whole account when I need to. An app that’s flexible, good-looking, fast and easy to use.

MoneyWell gets dangerously close to that.

Simple Drive Turns Your iPhone Into A Portable Hard Drive

Easy, nerds. I know that there are hundreds of apps that let you turn the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch into a portable hard drive - that’s why I never featured them. There are just too many of them out in the App Store.

So what about Simple Drive? It’s simple, it’s got a nice UI and doesn’t overwhelm you with tons of extra features you don’t even need. Unlike all those other apps, it’s elegant.

That’s why I downloaded it and I have so far enjoyed using it.

More Rumors About iPhone 4 Hardware Revision

Back in July, when Steve Jobs announced the free-for-all iPhone Case Program, he said that the expiration date was set to September 30th. Apple needed more time to think about the iPhone 4 antenna issues and a possible new solution.

Now, according to Mexican website CanalMX, Telcel’s (carrier) Director of Value Added Services Marco Quatorze stated that Apple is about to released a revised iPhone 4 by the end of September.

The iPhone 4 Solar Charger

I haven’t had any problems with the iPhone 4 battery so far (I managed to make it last 38 hours once), but in case you were wondering if there was a way to use solar power to get more battery life - well, here it is.

The Frostfire Mooncharge Hybrid Solar Battery Case For iPhone 4 gives your device 5 extra minutes of calling or 50 minutes of stand-by mode with 20 minutes of direct sunlight, but if you charge the battery inside the case via USB you get 5 additional hours of calling. So, not really powerful when it comes to solar charging - not unless you leave the phone in direct sunlight for a couple of hours.

The case comes at $70.  [Frostfire via GigaOM]
