iPad apps: Get Ready for the Second Wave
Andy Ihnatko over at Macworld:
“The iPad has been available for a few weeks now and I’m disappointed to find that one of my predictions seems to be coming true: the iPad won’t truly be “out” for another few months, when developers have finally had enough time with a real iPad in their hands to design true iPad-focused apps. Most of the freshman class seem to be either embiggened editions of iPhone hits or apps that bear the fingerprints of mouse-and-keyboard user interface design.
The brilliance of the iPad is the understanding that many notebook features aren’t relevant in a slate computer. I’m likely to use external hard drives and printers with a notebook. Not so with a slate. So why bother cutting three USB ports into it, and adding all kinds of troublesome third-party device drivers to the OS? And why bother adding all kinds of features to an app that will only be used 1% of the time, and which ruin the clean lines of the interface every time the app is launched?”
Twitter for iPhone Finally Available in the U.S. Store, Reviewed
It took a while, but now Twitter for iPhone is finally available in the US App Store as well. This is the official link. (check for updates if the link doesn’t work)
The application comes as a free update and has a new icon, unlike the screenshots we saw last night about the app keeping the old Tweetie icon.
The iPhone 4G, Now White
MacRumors has posted a picture from Taiwanese forum Apple.pro which shows an iPhone 4G with a white front panel. Apple has offered iPhone models with white back before, but a front panel would be really good news.
iPod Touch with Camera Leaked in Vietnam
Did you know that “leak” is a Vietnamese word? Not really, but it seems like every new Apple product is coming out from there first these days.
Today, we have a leak of an iPod Touch with camera, which is as mythical as unicorn tears - if you’ve been in the Apple-related news loop for a while now. There are pictures and videos, tour of Vietnamese cafè included. It’s a 2MP camera and the device is running a diagnosis firmware we’ve seen in action before.
Check it out after the break.
More on iPhone OS 4.0 Beta 4: Camera Flash for iPod and iPad, 10.7 Mentions
The good folks over at 9to5mac have discovered some interesting code references in the latest OS beta that seem to confirm that the iPod Touch will indeed have a Flash camera. But what about the iPad? Yeah, it is mentioned too - maybe the 2nd gen will really have a camera with flash included.
Last, 10.7 is finally officially mentioned by Apple in the SDK. Check out the screenshots after the break.

Lite Notes for iPad: For When You Hate Marker Felt
“Hello?”
“I want to speak with him.”
“Who is this?”
“You know who I am. I want to speak with him.”
“I’m afraid I can’t do that, Federico. Steve is talking with him now.”
“Steve, huh? He’s not busy answering emails now?”
“Well, yes - he’s using him to access…”
“Yeah, whatever. I don’t care if Steve is busy talking with some Japanese dudes about Softbank or just trying out his new Droid, just let me talk with him. Now.”
“Ok, hold on a sec.”
