Yet Another Tablet OS Leaked Video

Posted in news by Federico Viticci.

Or should I say “yet another fake video”? I wonder why these videos are always bad quality.

I do hope the widget rumor was fake. Apple just won’t do something like this. But the question is: let’s say Apple really came out with this idea of iPhone OS apps as widgets plus native tablet apps. Would you use them?

    This is clearly a fake.

They obviously waved their finger around the screen of a (regular ‘ol) mac while viewing the dashboard.

    storiesofmac Reply:

@Brian, That’s what I thought too. But how can you make the dashboard look like that, anyway?

    Cody Fink Reply:

@storiesofmac, It really reminded me a lot of the widget dashboard dock with some skinning.

Always bad quality because the fakes are created on Windows?

The iSlate: All the apps you love, now twice as fast. For twice as much.

@Cody Fink, Sounds like a great headline.

Fake probably. However if you think well, all the iPhone apps are "widgets", you just start them full screen. If apps were starting like that in the video it would look like a possible UI.

    storiesofmac Reply:

@Oxide, But then again, what’s the sense of having apps as widgets? If you think like this, why not on Macbooks too?

    storiesofmac Reply:

@storiesofmac, And the fact that Macbooks are not touch wouldn’t be a problem. Trackpad is enough. So, widgets everyone? :)

    Nah.

    @storiesofmac, no way for widget!
I wasn’t clear about the "widget" term i used, sorry for that.
What i wanted to say was what is the point in having a portable device with "widgets" (different sizes) not in full screen.Widget or not It would be a strange UI for me, without the consistency you can find in the iPhone UI (same menu bar etc) or Mac OsX.

Obviously fake, wheres the new 10.7 wallpaper? That one is the 10.6 one :(

    storiesofmac Reply:

@Ryan Sullivan, I don’t think the Tablet OS will be 10.7. That’s for desktop and notebooks.

@storiesofmac, Ya think so…? I’ve seen quite a few places, Softpedia is the one that comes to mind right now, that dub 10.7 Mac OS X Clouded Leopard, an optimized version of Mac OS X for touch devices, probably with an iPhone-relative UI,

Just a thought, really. Personally, I hope that 10.7 is reserved for the next iteration of Mac OS X for their desktops and notebooks. Maybe we’ll see something like Slate OS, in relativity to iPhone OS.

If they do go with this iPhone App friendly iSlate, I get the impression it leads to iPhone OS 4. More APIs, more functionality, and a heck of a lot more technologies to utilize in a touch screen app – a blend of iPhone OS and Mac OS.

After reading all that again, I feel slightly insane! XD

I really hope it’s a fake, otherwise the effort of Apple creating a new, revolutionary device would be equal zero. I mean, upscaling the iPhone OS and its Apps plus some additional features … that would be lame.

Not nearly full-featured enough to be an apple product. One thing that always annoys me about all these concepts is that they’re all SO heavily based on the iPhone just because it *probably* will have a touch screen. That would not be good, and I think Apple know enough to not do that.
