Tripmix, Music Blocks made Easy

In North Carolina, my respective radio station is 106.5 The End (link might contain NSFW content). And while I don’t know too many people who still listen to their local radio stations, I’m a huge fan, thus the shameless plug (and the window sticker). Occasionally they’ll have a block party weekend, where they’ll play two or three songs by the same artist in a row, and it’s a format I really love. But now when I travel, I can have a block party weekend wherever I go with Tripmix.

Geohot’s Next Jailbreak Tool To Be Called Limera1n?

It seems like popular hacker George Hotz is already working on the next version of his popular jailbreak tool for iPhone and iPod Touch, currently called “Blackra1n”. According to Redmond Pie, the next iteration should be called “Limera1n” and it turns out that a website is already online and the Whois record points to the same credentials Hotz used for Blackra1n. We’re embedding it after the break.

I think Hotz is indeed working on this Limera1n tool, but it’s the one that will jailbreak OS 4.0 devices, so it’s not going to be available soon, like next week. As for the jailbreak of the current iPad, we heard that it’s near completion - so I guess that should come anytime now. Hopefully, we’ll be here in two weeks discussing Cydia for iPad.

Jailbreak for iPhone OS 4.0 Beta 1 Available

Dev Team’s Musclenerd has just announced the first public jailbreak of the iPhone OS 4.0 Beta 1. Aimed only at developers of jailbroken apps, this jailbreak is done using RedSnow (Mac-only) 0.9.5 beta, available here.

The jailbreak doesn’t work on the iPad and, again, is still very broken and unstable. Still, it seems to be working.

Also, iPhone 3G only for now. More to come in the next days.

Video Shows Jailbroken iPhone 3G With OS 4.0 and Multitasking

Last week we reported that some developers found out you can enable multitasking on the iPhone 3G by simply changing a string in a .plist file from “false” to “true”. Today a video has been released, and it shows an iPhone 3G, running OS 4.0, jailbroken and with multitasking.

The jailbreak has probably been done with the iH8sn0w tool, whose developers has announced they are working on the iPhone OS 4.0 version. You can easily spot that it’s an iPhone 3G by how slow (compared to the 3GS) it opens Settings and Clock. Check out the video after the break.

iPhone OS 4.0, The User Centric OS

To tell the truth, I didn’t have God knows how big expectations for the iPhone OS 4.0 keynote. Sure I was hoping that Apple would announce new features and functions, but I actually didn’t really expect the event to turn out this good. Because yes, in my opinion the latest keynote has been one of the most important since years, which is gonna be remembered in the future as the day Apple marked the path for something new and revolutionary. Yesterday, Apple showed us  that there could…there should be a better way to work with a mobile phone. To use a mobile phone. To enjoy the web on a mobile phone.

Apple has reinvented mobile operating systems.

You Can Enable Multitasking on the iPhone 3G

Right after Steve announced yesterday that iPhone OS 4.0 multitasking is going to be exclusive to iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 3rd Gen., people started complaining. Steve said that due to hardware limitations these devices won’t be able to support multitasking, but it turns out that some people have started looking into the OS beta and found out that, actually, it’s possible to have multitasking on the iPhone 3G.

iPhone OS 4.0 Is Already Jailbroken

It happened in less than 24 hours. A few minutes ago, MuscleNerd from the Dev Team posted this tweet that proves that the jailbreak for iPhone OS 4.0 is already possible.

There’s a video after the break, with Cydia and Veency running on a 4.0 device. Now we only have to wait and see what the jailbreak community will come up with, considering all the features that Apple apparently “borrowed” from Cydia, like multitasking and inline spell check. We’ll see.

iPhone OS 4.0: Multitasking, Enterprise, and Folder Thoughts

Oh my goodness, where do I start on iPhone OS 4.0? I’m sure you guys already know about the features. You’re obsessed with multitasking and perhaps a little concerned about iAds. But what’s really captivating is just how much this will change mobile productivity. I want to focus on what the next iPhone OS will deliver you, how it compares to the competitors’ current methods, and how it will change the way you use your iPhone for your daily activities.
