I remember when the iPad came out in April I sat in front of my MacBook and watched all the videos of new apps I could find on Youtube. The Yankees were getting a new shiny Apple tablet and I was not - but then eventually I spent some bucks more than I would expect and bought one from the US. It’s been a great companion ever since. Among the apps I was desperately looking at on Youtube there was one that caught my attention: Weather HD. Read more

An Impressive iPhone Newspaper Ad [Video]
A few agencies get mobile advertising just right, and a very few companies seem to understand that you need a good iPhone app to let people engage with your product. Most companies think that pushing a web application wrapped in an iPhone app out in the App Store is enough; Belgium-based insurance company AXA is different.
Not only AXA was the first insurance company to deploy a good iPhone application, now they also realized an impressive interactive ad that requires users to point the iPhone over a blank spot on a newspaper and watch the magic happen. Seriously, just take a look at the video below. It may be a gimmick and it may not be so informative, but it catches your attention; it kind of forces you to stare at that video for a minute.

ZonkOut, Simple Sleep Timer for iPhone
I don’t need sleep timers or particular techniques to help me fall asleep. I usually hit the sack at 6am because I can’t work anymore or I just can’t have any more Instapaper. Coffee really has no effect on me, at least not anymore. Still, if you need a good sleep timer for your iPhone and really can’t stand Decrescendo, you can take a look at ZonkOut by Guerrilla Code. The Glif: We Need This iPhone Stand & Tripod Mount
I’m not exactly an accessory guy: I’m not into cases and skins, I like my iPhone naked. I purchased a Just Mobile Xtand, though: it’s a great way to keep the iPhone at a good visible angle on my desk and, frankly, it looks great next to the iMac.
But the Glif could be a lot better: a stand/tripod mount hybrid that doesn’t suck, doesn’t look bad and, most of all, could finally help you get things done. It could be a great way to use your iPhone as a digital clock, a great camera tripod…just watch the video below. Why am I saying “could”? Because the guys behind the Glif need our help. They have created a prototype, but the manufacturing process will cost around $10.000 to be completed.
Here’s the official Kickstarter campaign for Glif. Go donate right now, we need this. [via DF] Read more

Apple Approves BitTorrent App?
With all the new/revised rules for App Store approvals, who knows what will show up in the Store? First it was Google Voice apps and now a BitTorrent app? Could this one have slipped through the Apple cracks? Remember Handy Light and MiTube?
IS Drive by Derek Kepner is an app that works with ImageShack‘s BitTorrent service, which allows users to manage their downloads. While BitTorrent is not illegal as a file sharing protocol; it is the preferred method to copy the unauthorized exchange of music and video - and that’s a reason for Apple to reject applications that allow users to manage their downloads.
