Where’d that iPhone 4 Hold Button Go?

I’ve see a few complaints on Twitter and elsewhere, but people have been asking, “Where the heck did my iPhone 4 hold button go!?” When a making a call, the hold button has been replaced by FaceTime. But if you tap and hold the mute button in call, you’ll put that Android guy on the other end on hold! Awesome tip.

Apple Collecting FaceTime Location & Pushing iPhone 4 OTA Updates on AT&T?

Some interesting details about the iPhone 4 have showed up through AddictiveTips recently that details what information Apple may be collecting as you use FaceTime, and how the iOS 4 updates will be handled on AT&T.

In a pretty dramatic writeup (and followup), AddictiveTips lays out the goods:

- With iOS 4, AT&T locks all US iPhone owners to their network via regular OTA updates.
- AT&T shipped some iPhone 4 early to verify their OTA update system.
- Apple stealing user information via FaceTime, which lacks encryption.
- Some Apple employees who are aware of this situation are not updating to iOS 4.

Though I’m pretty sure Apple isn’t “stealing” your information - rather you agree to the sharing of private data when you sign up for your new steel and glass beauty.

Live Messenger App for iPhone Passes 1 Million Downloads in 5 Days

In 5 days, people have downloaded the official Live Messenger app for iPhone more than one million times, Microsoft announced on its official Windows Team Blog.

“While Messenger for iPhone is relatively new, for many connecting with Messenger friends on your mobile phone is not new. In addition to the more than one million iPhone Messenger users, there are over 24 million people who connect with Messenger friends from other mobile phones through a client application, their phone’s browser, or SMS. Along with Messenger Connect, Messenger IM in Hotmail, and the coming integration with Xbox LIVE, the new iPhone app is just one more way that we are bringing Messenger to you across the web and on your phone.”

Microsoft should deeply think about its success in the App Store before even thinking about building an alternative.

Aqueduct for iPhone is a Stimulating Waterworks Puzzler

There are lots of mindless games on the iPhone, and we feel it’s time to stimulate your brain for a bit. In the vain of locomotive puzzlers and other pipe-works derivatives that have you connecting various pieces of track to reach the end of a tunnel, Aqueduct combines thoughtful, maze like elements and environmental manipulation into one neat package.

Really, you haven’t seen anything like this. This is the finest example of how Apple’s tablet is indeed meant for content production, not only consumption.

Impressive, indeed.

iMovie Running on iPhone 3GS

The guys over at Redmond Pie have managed to modify the iMovie application file and install it on an iPhone 3GS. As you can see from the video after the break, it works just fine, despite Apple selling it as iPhone 4 exclusive for its high RAM requirements.

I assume that to do this you’ll have to edit the .ipa file of the app and enter a few strings to add 3GS support, then move the app into your device via SSH or iTunes. Redmond Pie removed the step-by-step guide due to Apple DRM violation, so I can’t tell. If you installed iMovie on your 3GS too, please let us know.
