FaceBreak Update Brings FaceTime on 3G Back to iOS 4.1 | Cydia Store

FaceBreak is a tweak available in Cydia (which just went back up, although some “connection timeout” issues are still there) at $1.49 that allows you to have FaceTime calls on 3G. It’s very simple and focused on FaceTime, unlike other apps such as My3G or 3G Unrestrictor that let you modify other settings and options for other 3rd party apps installed on your device.

The latest 1.1.5 update brings iOS 4.1 support, bug fixes, better battery handling. Available through BigBoss’ repo at $1.49. Also, check out our continually updating list of Cydia apps working on iOS 4.1 here.

Jailbreak iPhone on iOS 4.1, Install Your First Cydia Apps [with Compatibility List]

Geohot’s limera1n jailbreak came out two days ago with a huge drama over Twitter: the guy announced his “retirement” months ago, he didn’t tell anyone about his exploit and jailbreak tool, he released it a day earlier than expected leaving the Chronic Dev Team and iPhone Dev Team wondering what they should do with GreenPo1son, their own (and much anticipated) jailbreak tool based on the SHAtter exploit.

The Dev Team decided to save SHAtter for a future release of iOS, a not-so-popular but smart move looking forward. In this post we’ll show you how you can easily jailbreak your iPhone (or iPod Touch) running iOS 4.1 using limera1n and install your first Cydia apps on it. We’ll also take a look at the apps that are already working on 4.1, and which ones need an update. So wait no more, jump after the break! Read more

Meet The Magic Mouse iPhone - I’m Sorry, What?

Oh, Chinese knock-offs. I love them: not because I’m looking forward to buying one, but because they show the…creativity of people who can’t do anything but copy. Badly. We’ve seen poor iPhone and iPad imitations before: they were stupid and they made us laugh. This one? Take a look at the Magic Mouse-powered iPhone (or is it “iPhonc” written on the rear?) below:

But then you’d like to take a look at the front, wouldn’t you? The ignominious design, as discovered by 9to5mac, follows after the break. Read more

iOS 4.1.1 Coming This Week to Fix Alarm Clock Bug, Jailbreak Hole?

Jailbreakers, it’s time to backup your SHSH blobs again: according to a report from ZDNet, Apple has a software update ready to fix the annoying alarm clock bug discovered a few weeks ago, and it should come out “soon”.

The bug was first discovered on Sunday morning after daylight savings kicked in for New South Wales, Victoria, the Australian Capital Territory, South Australia and Tasmania. Unless otherwise configured, most iPhones automatically adjusted to daylight savings and moved an hour forward. However, due to a glitch in the iPhone’s alarm clock application, any recurring alarms set to go off on multiple days, such as a weekday alarm, would go off an hour earlier than the time set.

Notational Velocity with Fullscren Mode, Horizontal Layout, Menubar Icon

Notational Velocity is one of my favorites apps for the Mac: it’s a minimal and focused writing application that enables you to entirely navigate between notes using the keyboard, it integrates with Simplenote and can store its plain text files anywhere on your computer - Dropbox folder included. It autosaves notes so that you don’t have to worry about losing anything. Also, you just have to press Enter to create a new note. It’s simple and powerful at the same time. It’s free and open source.

Its open-source nature gave birth to a plethora of “forks”, alternative versions of the software with custom modifications and features. Maybe you remember Steven Frank’s excellent Markdown fork. Today’s mod comes from Elastic Threads: it’s the Notational Velocity you’re used to, only with horizontal layout and fullscreen mode enabled. Read more

The Incident: Whatʼs New In 1.2

The Incident (our previous review) is undoubtedly one of the funnest and most addicting games on the App Store today. The retro styled smash hit became immediately popular with everybody, young and old. This past couple of weeks Iʼve had the pleasure of testing out the newest update to The Incident.

One of the biggest complaints with the original version was the lack of an endless mode. Well, rest assured your wishes were heard and thereʼs a new mode called “Endless Nightfall.” Complete with awesome new music from Cabel Sasser himself, Endless nightfall has some awesome additions to an already awesome game.
