The AppSumo Do Work Bundle Giveaway

Productivity shouldn’t have to be so hard ya know? Twitter for Mac is the desktop wasteland for lost productivity, iTunes is eating away at my soul thanks to those dozen or so unplayed podcasts, and those sticky notes cluttering the desktop aren’t exactly great for organizing meaningful information. What if we threw out all the distractions, handed you a proper notepad, and even backed up all those juicy documents you’re now furiously creating with the power of the cloud? AppSumo clearly has a thing for picking out all the right apps for the job, and we’re giving away five bundles just in case reading MacStories isn’t productive enough.

For the next four days, AppSumo is selling a $15 dollar bundle (valued at $66) that’s worth its weight in golden crocodile scales. It’s the second bundle offered in a month of OS X, and we’re lucky enough to be giving away five of them to some lucky readers. (Seriously, do you know how hard it is to wrestle a golden crocodile?)

The Bundle:

TaskPaper: $29

Probably being my favorite app of the bundle (how can you not admire Hog Bay Software’s minimal handiwork), TaskPaper is the task manager for people who think in plain text and not folders. Yes, you can create multiple projects, add to-do items, and keep note of whatever chaos you’re tracking in your life with nothing but colons, dashes, and the occasional caps-lock for those rage inspired meeting notices. Distracted easily? Forget it. TaskPaper is the king of distraction-free task tools…unless you get addicted to adding new tasks, then you might have a problem.

Vitamin R: $19

I’m not sure if the developers are really big fans of Chevelle or not, but Vitamin R is just what the doctor ordered when you can’t keep from procrastinating. We’re all victims of lost productivity thanks to Facebook, Twitter, and the whole freakin’ Internet, but that doesn’t mean it has to stay that way. Vitamin R forces you to go into lockdown mode by only allowing you to focus on the tools you need, plus it splits up your workflow into manageable chunks so you’re not wearing yourself too thin. Combine that with its data tracking prowess, and Vitamin R suddenly becomes the new FitBit for your Mac.

Arrange: $7

I’ve reviewed one too many window managers in my day, but that doesn’t mean I’m not willing to give Arrange a shot. Just think of Windows Metro splattered onto your OS X desktop, and if you’re turned off by the initial color combinations, trust me when I say everything is insanely customizable. Instead of having to nudge this or stretch that, Arrange simply reveals presets so you can get to work quickly (because moving windows is itself a distraction). Clean up that dirty desktop with just a few clicks – we wouldn’t want you getting lost in a world of buried windows now would we?

Backblaze: 20% off Coupon

If we’re going to turn you into a productivity machine, we better make sure you cover your bases when it comes to all of that hard work. Okay, this one isn’t exactly free, but you can take 20% off only the most awesome backup service available on the web. Backblaze was created in part by a couple of Apple engineers who decided complicated NAS servers and other home solutions were nonsense – backup in the cloud ensures that your rack of hard drives won’t die in a fire, and that the data on your Mac is safe no matter what happens. If you’re looking to really backup your data offsite on redundant storage, Backblaze is $5 a month, and just $50 a year. Sans our awesome coupon.
