Where I live, shit’s sparse. I live in a rather quiet town that certainly is jam packed full of residential homes and shopping, but what’s there for the average guy to do? I’m not exactly cosy in New York City or Miami Beach, so I actually have to seek out things to do. Thank god there’s Happening for the iPhone and iPod touch.
Happening allows me to see all the hip and happening things in my area.. and that’s it! All kidding aside, I’m a little disappointed. Oh it’s not in the app, but the fact that the only interesting thing near me is PINKS. Back to the app, it’s cool: I can tap an event, check out event details, and get directions if I need ‘em. I can also share the event with friends (if they have Upcoming accounts).
You can also search for events. I wanted to see what bands were in the area, so I searched for “bands.” Thought I got a bunch of uninteresting results, the search works great. I wasn’t able to thoroughly test the Friends and My Events features of Happening, but basically you can hook with friends and see what events their attending, and they connect with you as well. My limited use with this aspect of the application seemed promising.
Overall, if you need a quick event finder, Happening will show you either all of the awesome or lame things goin’ down at your end of the street - after all, we do wanna have fun right?
