Photobag, Geo-based Photo Organizer. Review and Giveaway.

They say the best camera is the one that’s always with you. I’m not a photographer, but I don’t mind taking some pics with my iPhone when I can, so I couldn’t agree more with this expression.

Let’s focus on the iPhone: the App Store has thousands of photography app, probably one of the best selling categories. Apps for digital flash, digital zoom, quick editing, Flickr uploading, everything. There are also many apps that integrate geo tagging seamlessly and usefully, thanks to the built-in iPhone capabilities.

Today we’d like to talk about a new app that got accepted by Apple 2 days ago, and that’s very promising. It’s called Photobag, and we have 10 promo codes up for grabs.

Rediscover Your Music with Attic. Review and Giveaway.

My music setup is pretty heterogeneous. I have a decent vinyl and cd collection, a 160GB iPod Classic that syncs with my digital iTunes collection, a Spotify Pro membership. This setup allows me to listen to my favorite artists wherever I am, whenever I want - especially since I bought the iPod Classic I can enjoy my collection while driving with my car through the beautiful landscapes of Italy. Ok, maybe we haven’t got that landscapes here.

But anyway, I missed something: I wanted to have another device that allowed me to play some stuff while working, without having to open iTunes or put a disk into my superdrive. I thought syncing only some music to my iPhone was a good idea after all. I mean, the iPhone is always next to the MacBook during the day, I could just copy some of the albums I’m currently into and periodically update the playlist. And it worked, as you may have seen from the screenshots I posted on Twitter last week.

But being that music nerd that I man, the “iPhone Weekly” playlist ended up in being a 2GB monster sitting in iPod app and, even if the selection of artists was limited, I wasn’t really listening to some of them. But fortunately, I got accepted into the beta testing group of this new application called Attic which, in the words of the developer, was aimed at changing the way you listen to the music you have on your iPhone. Rather than offering a new UI for browsing music (I don’t know if that’s even possible) Attic helps you in re-discovering the songs you have but haven’t played recently.

After some weeks of testing and daily usage, here’s our review of Attic. And also, we’ve got 5 promo codes to give away.

Newsprint Available: Review and Giveaway.

Newsprint, the application we previewed a while ago here, it’s finally out in the App Store.

To tell the truth, I don’t remember a beta testing process I enjoyed as much as I enjoyed Newsprint’s one. I went through a lot of builds, saw the application grow, the UI refine, features get better. It’s like having this little plant and watch it growing in a matter of a some weeks. But for as long as I enjoyed being part of the testing group, I have to keep my personal feelings out of this review, so  - don’t worry.

Newsprint has to face big names and competitors. Reeder, Byline, Newsrack, Netnewswire: it’s the best of the best in the RSS scene, and the developers knew it all along but decided to believe in Newsprint anyway. Is it really that good? Could Newsprint make you delete Reeder from your home screen?

Let’s find out. (and you know, we’ve got some promo codes to give away too.)

Colorbind: Join the Dots.

After playing Polyhedra (our review) I decided that in the end, I should have given a try to other games in the App Store. I’ve always used my iPhone as a “productive” device but come on, a game’s never killed anyone - I could use a 10 mins relax sometimes.

Colorbind is one of my new favorite games for iPhone and iPod Touch. It’s simple (in the concept) but it’s damn difficult guys. It reminds me of one of those 80’s - 90’s videogames, where it was gameplay that really counted, games were hard. In Colorbind you have to join the dots by weaving color strips with your fingers. That’s it. It’s puzzle game, and as you go on with completed levels, you’ll see how genius this game is.
