iPhone 4 VS. Windows Phone 7

Back in July I told you I was curious to see an iPhone 4 versus a Windows Phone 7 in a video comparison. Well, here it is. Thanks to the guys over at Pocketnow.com, we can now take a look at how the WinPho 7 actually performs against Apple’s latest magical device - you guess how.

No multitasking, a second “screen” for the complete apps list, inconsistent UI. I like the opening animations, though. Check out the video below. Then you can go back to be excited about the next Android release. Read more

iPhone As A Wallet with Visa payWave

I’ve been dreaming about an “iPhone as wallet” for years now. Apple patents are not enough, I want the real thing: I want to ditch these cards and papers I still have in my pocket. For God’s sake, it’s 2010 we’re talking about. New Yorkers are closer than us to the real thing: thanks to the newly introduced payWave system by Visa, they can now pay train, subway and bus fares using their iPhone.

You fire up the Visa app, “slide to pay” to initiate the payment process, wave the phone over a compatible reader and you’re done. You’ve paid for something in the real word with a digital paper-free device. I think this is just great, so go take a look at the video after the break and dream with me about an iPhone-centered future payment system. It has to happen. Read more

Ruler 2 - How Does It Measure Up?

Admit it, the iPhone in your pocket is like a Swiss Army Knife - it’s easy to carry and has a tool for almost every job; oh yeah, and it makes phone calls too. A ruler isn’t something you need all the time but oh-so-important when you do. So why not have an app that takes precise measurements? That’s where Ruler 2, by Andrew & Alexa, comes into play - its simple, easy to use and precise for not being an physical analog ruler. The UI elements are large, easy to read and retina display ready. The ruler has a great texture and looks very lifelike and the little cog wheels give the slider realistic movements. Read more

Apple Now Allowing Ringtone Makers In The App Store

Apple Now Allowing Ringtone Makers In The App Store

Since the early days of the App Store, applications that allow users to make ringtones from songs on their handsets have either inexplicably sat on hold or were outright denied. And yet, here we are; as of right now, there are no less than 5 different ringtone making apps sitting in the App Store.

Ringtone Designer Pro is great. Simple, and nice UI.

Captio Lets You Email Tasks To Yourself With 1 Tap

What’s the easiest way to capture tasks and quick notes on the go? Some might say OmniFocus for iPhone is the way, some are in bed with Simplenote. I say the easiest and fastest way to capture tasks in seconds has always been this: email them to yourself.

I know, it’s archaic. But it works. And if you’re running your email account on Gmail, you have an amazing amount of tools to play with to setup great filters to sort the inbox for you. Not to mention the latest feature Google added to Gmail, the Priority Inbox: if you’re used to emailing tasks to yourself and you tell Google those emails are important, you’ll never miss one.

That’s why I’m in love with Captio. Read more
