The iPhone Popular, Who Knew?

Infographics - you either love them or hate them. They’re all over the internet these days but I for one enjoy them, especially when they’re bragging about Apple. BillShrink.com has posted an infographic about the iPhone on their blog. I know, BillShrink? Clearly they’re not owned by AT&T - ba dum tis.

Despite strong sales, is the iPhone the leading smartphone or the leading mobile device in the world? As the smartphone war continues to heat up with the introduction of new Android-powered devices, the smartphone market share can look different from quarter to quarter. What will an iPhone, BlackBerry, and Android owner buy next for their new mobile device? Some of the answers to these questions might just surprise you..

Sonic 4: Finally Coming To The iPhone On October 7th

Back in June Sega announced that Sonic 4: Episode 1 was coming to the iPhone, and the guys over at TouchArcade even managed to get their hands on an early demo at the E3 2010. The game looked great, but it got delayed. Quite frankly, this is one of the few games I’m seriously looking forward to, so I was really disappointed when I read about the Sonic 4 delay.

Good new this morning, though: Sonic 4 for iPhone is official, it’s real - and it’s coming to the App Store on October 7th. Read more

Droplr For iPhone Now Available

Droplr, a popular URL, image and text sharing service for Mac, has just released its first official iPhone client in the App Store. For those who don’t know what Droplr is, think of it as some sort of CloudApp with a different web app, more keyboard shortcuts, custom domain capabilities and note-sharing options. Read more

Meet Cloudette, A Free CloudApp Client for iPhone

Together with Dropbox, CloudApp is another tool I couldn’t work without anymore. Originally developed as Mac-only sharing utility by the Linebreak guys, CloudApp eventually evolved to have a full-featured web interface and an API for developers to plug into and create unofficial clients. Thanks to this integration with 3rd party applications, some great pieces of software like Courier for Mac, Weet and Prizmo for iPhone gained CloudApp uploading capabilities. Not to mention Cloud2Go, the first unofficial (and paid) CloudApp client for iPhone.

Cloudette is a new CloudApp client for iPhone (and soon iPad) which lets you check on your files, and upload new ones. For free. Read more

iPhone 4, Telescope and the Moon

Astronomy geeks, this one’s for you. Grab your iPhone, and a Celestron NexStar (or comparable telescope) and you can capture the moon like photographer Douglas Sonders did. “I was playing with my uncle’s new telescope this weekend and managed to get the above image of the moon using my iPhone 4 and holding it to the eyepiece of the scope. I couldn’t believe it came out! I tweaked the sharpness, contrast, and added a border using the … Photoshop application on my iPhone.” And you thought the iPhone 4’s camera was only for shooting other heavenly bodies. Read more

More European FaceTime Commercials

Last night we reported that some major Italian TV channels started airing the first iPhone 4 commercials, all of them focused on FaceTime. It turns out that the commercials are the same across all Europe, UK and Spain included. Check out the videos here if you missed them last night.

3Italia has posted two new ads on their official Youtube channel, and I have to say they’re a lot better than the first two. They’re emotional, human, simple and effective. We’ve embedded them after the break.

iPhone 4 Sold Out In China

This is surprising: the iPhone 4 went on sale in China last weekend, and chinese carrier Unicom can’t keep up with the demand which has already exceeded the initial supply. Unicom received 200,000 preorders since September 17th and sold more than 60,000 units last Saturday. More than 1,000 people waited in line at Apple’s Beijing store to get their hands on an iPhone 4. About Time: Italian FaceTime Commercials

A few hours ago some major Italian TV channels started airing the first, official FaceTime commercials for the iPhone 4. Smart move from Apple: Sunday is football’s day in Italy, and Apple picked sport-based channels like Sky to air the commercials. Even though the iPhone 4 came out in late July and they could have aired the ads before, this is a clever day choice.

As for the videos, it’s the same background music of the US commercial, but the subjects are different. Check them out after the break, we like them. Hat tip to iSpazio for finding the videos on Youtube.

Apple, Mobile Phone Profit Analysis

Asymco has posted an interesting story/graph on the analysis of mobile phone profits. Horace Dediu writes, “if the available profit (i.e. excluding losses) were summed and each vendor’s profit were measured as a percent of this total, this chart would tell the story of the last three years.” Read more
