OCR on the Mac? You gotta be kidding me.
I still can hear those Windows fanboys yelling at me years ago. But when I showed them Prizmo for Mac, they actually shut up. Prizmo by Creaceed is an awesome (yes, awesome) application for Mac OS X that allows you to snap pictures of, say, documents with your digital camera, import them via USB and see the magic happen as the app recognizes text (10 languages are supported), makes a Spotlight-searchable index, adjusts the picture’s brightness and perspective, too. It is indeed magic.
Prizmo is coming to the iPhone, and if you think about the new iPhone camera…that’s a new app on my waiting list.
From what we can see in the video below, the app will feature a beautiful UI design (as Creaceed’s tradition) and allow you to do basically the same things you can do on Prizmo for Mac.
You’ll be able to export documents as plain text or upload them to online services like Dropbox and Cloud app (!). I don’t think I’ve ever seen a OCR app like this on the iPhone before, not with this feature set. Also, the app will automatically recognize tel. and Address fields from a scan and auto-magically display info for you.
OCR on the iPhone? You gotta be kidding me.
Actually, it’s coming. And it looks like it’s going to be huge.
