We have seen examples of art applied to the iPad before: remember the iPad light paintings ? I’m not afraid to call that “art”: with the technology of today and the creativity of real artists, it is possible to come up with modern implementations of old art forms.

A few agencies get mobile advertising just right, and a very few companies seem to understand that you need a good iPhone app to let people engage with your product. Most companies think that pushing a web application wrapped in an iPhone app out in the App Store is enough; Belgium-based insurance company AXA is different.
Not only AXA was the first insurance company to deploy a good iPhone application, now they also realized an impressive interactive ad that requires users to point the iPhone over a blank spot on a newspaper and watch the magic happen. Seriously, just take a look at the video below. It may be a gimmick and it may not be so informative, but it catches your attention; it kind of forces you to stare at that video for a minute.

VLC for iPad was released yesterday in the App Store, and according to developer Applidium the app has generated 125,000 download during its first afternoon in the App Store. Indeed, the app seems to be a huge success: it’s free, every blog is talking about it, it’s dominating the charts in iTunes. Read more
Great news, folks! VLC for iPad has been approved by Apple and is now propagating in the App Store. New Zealand users can find the app already available here, anyone else will have to wait a few hours to see the app available for sale in iTunes.
