When I bought my iPad I didn’t think there could be an easy way to make it fit into my everyday-blogging workflow. There’s no good blogging app out yet, WordPress’ backend doesn’t work fine with Safari and writing quick posts with the iPad is a pain. Writing articles aside, what’s the best way to work with an iPad and a Macbook at the same time, in the same context? The answer was in apps of course, with a little bit of creativity.

iMockups for iPad, Wireframing at the Nudge of a Finger
The boys over at Endloop have created somewhat of a mini miracle for web developers looking to quickly mockup projects while lounging on their favorite office furniture. It’s not everyday I actually trade in good ol’ paper and pencil for quick wireframing, but for the past week I’ve been using iMockups for my dirty deeds. Finger smudges abound and cups o’ coffee later, I laid the iPad on the table and scrolled through some of the various projects I cooked up, then satisfied, left to write a review.
An iPad, An Apple II And a Music Video
Panic rocks, even when it’s not about new applications coming out of their offices. They got an email two weeks ago, and they were asked to run the source of a text animation written for a music video on their (now popular) Apple IIe, just to see it if worked and take a few pictures. To do so, they had to load the source code into a “cassette deck”, which wasn’t available.
So what, give up? Nah, they just decided to use an iPad for that. Check out the Panic’s video here the original one after the break, it’s an impressive result.
Apple Posts New iPad Commercial - “What Is iPad”?
Apple has posted a brand new iPad commercial on its website, it’s called “What is iPad?”.
The commercial shows the iPad in different contexts (there’s even some guy carrying it on a motorbike) like piano lessons and meetings. It shows the usual Safari, Photos and Videos apps, together with a quick gallery of App Store applications.
“iPad is thin. iPad is beautiful.”

Audiotorium, Easy to use Audio and Text Recorder
There’s lots of applications on the iPad that allow you to take notes, record audio, and maybe do both. I think Evernote is a good example in this category, but let us not forget about a smaller contender by the name of Audiotorium. Quite simply, it’s just an easy to use note taking application that allows you to record audio, take notes, and add audio bookmarks. Oh, and it has lots of sweet icons packed in (more on that later).
iPad Wifi Issues Will Be Fixed With a Software Update
Remember when there was so much talking about the iPad having problems with wifi connections and disconnecting from networks? Some U.S. colleges even banned the device due to these problems with wifi. Apple has finally updated a support document about the issue including some “workarounds” to get wireless connections working properly on the iPad:
- Verify your Wi-Fi router firmware is up to date.
- If your router’s security encryption is WEP, try WPA or WPA2, as WEP can cause intermittent disconnects with the iPad which requires retyping a password.
- Make sure the iPad screen brightness is not at the lowest level.
- Obtain a new IP address by going into Settings, Wi-Fi, accessing the settings of the current network, and choosing “Renew Lease.”
- Finally, if these steps do not work, users are recommended to try turning Wi-Fi off and back
Also, the issues will be fixed with a Software Update. I can see OS 3.2.1 coming by the WWDC.
Connecting a USB Flash Drive to the iPad
So we’ve been able to browse the iPad from the Finder, but what about browsing a portable drive from the iPad. Turns out you can connect a USB flash drive using the camera connection kit and browse its content using iFile (from Cydia, must have file browser).
