Too bad the iPad isn’t just a book reader. That’s what Amazon still don’t get: the iPad is a great tablet which does pretty good ebook reading.

Twitter for iPad came out two weeks ago and everyone’s still talking about it. Well, at least everyone in the Twitter / iOS-related sphere. Why? Because it breaks standards and, at the same time, creates new ones which are going to deeply affect the way we think of native applications for iPad. In a way, I think Loren Brichter managed to reinvent the whole Twitter wheel on Apple’s magical tablet, but I’ve already written a blog post about this. I’m not here to re-celebrate the innovations of Twitter for iPad. Instead, I’d like to focus on the impact that this app had (and is having) on 3rd party clients, from a casual user and geek perspective. Read more
Perfect timing. Earlier today we talked about international insurer Lloyds starting to use the iPad with brokers as a writing tool, now SAP joins the list of large corporations deploying iPads to its employees. In fact, SAP’s may be the largest iPad rollout to date: with 1,000 iPads already deployed, ZDNet assumes that Apple itself hasn’t rolled out that many tablets to its employees. Read more

We have a thing for Lego. I grew up with those tiny colored bricks, and I bet many of you did, too. So when my friend @toxinide told me about his Lego stand for iPad, I immediately posted it on MS. But we did give some more love in the past, because I love when modders put together great creations such as a working Lego Printer for Mac. At least, that’s what asymco claims. We knew that there were 59.6 million iPhones and 3.2 million iPads through June; at the music event last Wednesday, Apple announced that 120 million iOS devices were sold to date. So asymco assumed that Apple sold 8 million iPhones and 4 million iPads during July and August, and they came up with a 45.2 million iPod Touches sold to date estimate. That’s 37.7% of total units. We reported many times in the past that businesses are jumping on the iPad. If you remember, Mercedes even decided to start using the iPad as a sales tool. Not to mention Forrester saying that iOS devices are ready for enterprise and Apple deploying even more Enterprise features in iOS 4.0 such as wireless app distribution (which I tested a few days ago, really works great) and better Entourage support.
