I haven’t seen any real talent on the Android Marketplace, which might explain why Microsoft is trolling Apple’s App Store, seeking out developers to “extend beyond your existing platforms and unto our new Windows Phone 7 platform.” I’d rather Microsoft prove to me they have a killer phone before enticing me to join Redmond’s army, but I suppose you should be at least flattered.

Microsoft Trolling App Store for Developers?
BMW’s iDrive to Get iPod Functionalities in 2011
German-based car manufacturer BMW is going to integrate iPhones and iPod Touches into the user experience of its automotives, starting 2011. They have indeed developed a brand new system that perfectly integrates with Apple’s iOS devices.
iOS 4 Now with Direct iTunes Access - DJ Apps Developers Rejoice
DJ apps seem to do pretty good in the App Store, but from today on, they’ll just keep getting better. One of the biggest complaints of DJ apps devs was the lack of direct access to the music library to edit songs already synced with iTunes. You had to upload another song to an app-specific library, fire up the app and find that song you uploaded.
Now, it looks like you can just pick up a song from iPod.app and start scratching.
Flash-free Nexus One Faster than iPhone 4 [Video]
We keep reading about benchmarks, but numbers are what they are - numbers. We want to see the actual results when it comes to browser speed testing. We want the javascript loading tests - we want the real thing, Jason Chen might as well add.
And there you have it, Engadget saved us all once again. They took an iPhone 4, a Nexus One running Android 2.2 (Froyo), put them side-by-side and shot a video. While opening web pages, not some geeky benchmark utility. It turns out, the Nexus One is slightly faster than the iPhone 4 with Flash uninstalled. With Flash on it though, speed is about the same.
What does this mean for us? It means that when Apple will release an update for iOS 4 (and it should happen soon) we’ll likely see the same performances on both devices, but Google will have some hard times trying to explain why the much-requested Flash plugin slows down devices. And considering that Android doesn’t get updated as often as iOS - Safari will just keep getting better and better in a few months.

iPhone 4 Unlock and Jailbreak Coming Soon
The Dev-Team is working hard on creating the first unlock and jailbreak tools for the iPhone 4. The new device was released a couple of weeks ago, but the jailbreak community is already active in development of new tweaks and ways to bypass Apple’s restrictions.
Nintendo: “We won’t produce software for iOS”
Many think that Nintendo should start developing games for the App Store, instead of focusing on challenging Apple. I’m one of those too, mainly because I’d love to have some Super Mario on my new iPhone.
Still, it’s not going to happen.
Whited00r Brings iOS 4 to iPhone 2G and iPod Touch 1st Gen
iOS 4 doesn’t officially support the original iPhone (also known as 2G, Apple announced they were dropping support for it months ago) and the first generation iPod Touch. Italian coder and hacker Federico created a modified version of iPhone OS 3.1.3 which integrates features built-in with iOS 4, and the result is quite interesting.
Spotify and Last.FM Apps Updated with iOS Multitasking Support
Snowtape for iPhone Now with Multitasking Support - 3 Codes Up for Grabs
I reviewed Snowtape for iPhone back in March, and since then I kept the app on my iPhone, until iOS 4 came out a few weeks ago. Why? Because when I installed the new OS and tried Pandora Radio, I couldn’t go back to listen to music in streaming without multitasking support. So I deleted it and thought “Well, let’s wait for an update”.
Lucky me, and update was already awaiting for Apple’s approval in the App Store. The new version of Snowtape comes with iOS 4 multitasking support: you can now listen to music when the app is paused (like Pandora) and go back to where you left off thanks to fast app switching. It works great, and it’s still available at $1.99 here.
