If your iPad app collection is looking a little slim, maybe you’ll find something relevant to your interests – the Genius tab is being slowly rolled out as a completely new in addition to items like Featured or Top Sites, so keep an eye out for this “brilliant” update and be sure to let us know if you actually find Genius useful.

MiTube: Free and Simple Youtube Downloader for iPhone & iPad [Update: Removed]
Update: We knew this was going to happen. Apple removed the app.
Of all the apps in the App Store, I haven’t seen really great Youtube apps. Maybe because Apple’s one is installed by default and Youtube’s mobile website is even better than Apple’s app? Who knows. Anyway, here comes a new one: MiTube, formerly known as MxTube and sold on Cydia, is now available as a universal app for free in the App Store.
The app is very simple, but useful: you search for a video on Youtube, then you decided if you want to stream it or download it. You can choose to download low-quality or high-quality versions, and HD when available.

Apple Launches “Newsstand” and “Radio” Sections in the App Store
So here we are again, talking about new sections Apple has introduced in the App Store. Newsstand and Radio, available here and here, feature applications to, ehm, read news and listen to online radios. Apps such as NYT, Instapaper, Reeder and Pandora, Last.fm and Sirius XM are in there.
Now I’m wondering: how long before a section that showcases apps optimized for the Retina Display? I’m tired of browsing AppShopper for that.

Sometimes a new app comes around and reinvents a genre. A few times (a very few times, actually) a new app arrives and reinvents everything you thought about a device. I’ve mentioned the “second wave of iPad apps” before: I think that a new generation of applications for Apple’s tablet is ready to invade the App Store to show everyone, not just its 3 million users, what the iPad was meant to be since the beginning.
I think that the second wave starts today with Flipboard.
“Tethering App” Approved - Apple’s Inquisition Arrives and Pulls It
You might have noticed this on other blogs earlier today: Apple approved an app called Handy Light, which was pretty similar to other flashlight apps on the App Store. Except for one little insignificant and absolutely unnoticeable detail for American users: it allowed tethering on the iPhone.
