Perhaps there’s a beautiful French woman waiting for you overseas. Boarding the next International flight and armed to the teeth with your Visas and MasterCards, you’ve found the perfect place in Paris to buy her that beautiful diamond ring. While I am stealing a page out of a Google commercial, spending money overseas is no joke when credit card fees are involved. Don’t be caught off guard: Wallet Dilemma for the iPhone accurately approximates just how much those Euros will end up costing you in good ol’ USD.
This isn’t just your typical exchange rate conversion tool. Good sirs, this is the must have app for including those costly fees that’ll you accumulate for using your cards overseas. Wallet Dilemma makes the entire process so fast and easy that it can be explained in a single sentence! Simply add a card from your settings (Such as a Bank of America Visa or a Citibank MasterCard), tap Payment, select the currency using the location/currency button at the top of the screen, and then enter your amount for an instant expected conversion. That’s pretty amazing, and while the app currently only supports banks from the United States and France, more countries will be added soon.
I’ll make this clear right now: this app does not ask you for personal credit card information. I was under that assumption before I had used it, but you simply select what kinds of cards you have so that the appropriate conversions can be made. Many US banks are supported (much more than I expected), and while I’m not familiar with banks in France, there appears to be a large selection as well. I imagine you’d be hard pressed to find something that wasn’t already included, but if you happen to own some odd card, you can add the card’s fees and rates yourself in the app. That’s cool, making this a prime utility for both Americans and French citizens to convert rates anywhere in the world.
With Federico and I often doing business of our own, no doubt it will be invaluable to us as entrepreneurs as Italian and other banks are added.
