The iPad Can be Forever Yours with Rumored Free Engraving

You can already etch that precious name of yours into iPods, but currently you can’t personalize the glorious aluminum of an iPad. Though you might be able to soon: AppleInsider reports that Apple may be prepping for such customization by the holiday season.

The report indicated that Apple would have liked to offer iPad engraving earlier, but due to strong demand for the product, the company has been unable to do so. Apple sold 3 million iPads in the product’s first 80 days, and company officials said last week they are unsure when they will be able to catch up with consumer demand.

The report also indicated that the engraving is expected to be free, like it is with the longstanding iPod option.

The words “I love you” couldn’t be written on a more perfect device.

Coalition for Innovative Media Measurement to Study the iPhone User Behavior

If CIMM is reading this right now, I’d love to be a part of this focus group. With a million available for funding, CIMM (a research initiative formed by TV networks and advertising agencies) plans to hire the Media Behavior Institute to study 1,000 iPhone loving users to research what they’re viewing, who they’re with (what kind of cliques do iPhone peeps hang out in), and if they were multitasking.

Most importantly if you’re one of the lucky 1,000 participants, you get to play with a free iPhone.

Japan’s Most Delicious iPhone Cases

I’m still waiting for someone to one-up the whole iPad iDish thing, but this comes pretty close. We’ve learned that eating off of gadgets can be a pretty sensual experience, but sometimes our techno-lust can lead to unpredictable cravings that can only be solved by bacon. If the thought of a Retina Display infused in your morning slice of bacon doesn’t excite those tingling taste buds, then just wait until you see what Japan has in store for us this time.

Gorillaz - Escape to Plastic Beach for iPad Available

If you like Gorillaz, own Plastic Beach and happen to have a magical iPad as well, then this game is for you.

9to5mac:

“In the game your job is to get the album of the same name recorded. To achieve this you are band leader, Murdoc, and your job is to fly around on the ‘Doom Glider’ shooting things and avoiding stuff. You get all the music from the album and rather spiffing Jamie Hewlett graphics.”

Apple Launches “Newsstand” and “Radio” Sections in the App Store

So here we are again, talking about new sections Apple has introduced in the App Store. Newsstand and Radio, available here and here, feature applications to, ehm, read news and listen to online radios. Apps such as NYT, Instapaper, Reeder and Pandora, Last.fm and Sirius XM are in there.

Now I’m wondering: how long before a section that showcases apps optimized for the Retina Display? I’m tired of browsing AppShopper for that.

iLife ‘11 Coming on August 7th with New “Mystery” App?

Here’s one of those rumors you wake up in the morning with and can’t stop thinking about for the whole day. It’s a rumor, so be careful with the excitement.

Mac4ever reports that iLife ‘11 will be released on August 7th with a huge set of new features including a “mistery new application”, full 64-bit support and MobileMe integration.

- ILife ‘11 will be sold for $79

- Release Date of 08/07/2010

- All applications will be 64-bit

- Improvements in iPhoto faces & places

- Improving the integration of social networks

- IWeb will be totally renewed

- New application (mystery!)

- Disappearance of iDVD

- MobileMe gallery in beta (with faces & places)

Should we believe that? Sure some options sound very likely. As MacRumors also points out, the latest version of iLife (‘09) was announced at Macworld SF 2009. So, I guess it’s time for a brand new shiny version.

Audiobox.fm iPhone App Approved - Your Cloud Music Goes Mobile

Audiobox.fm is a great online music service I reviewed a while ago while it was in its early stages of development. The developers are based in Italy, and this - compared to the fact that the service was very promising - couldn’t make me happier. During these months the developers have been working hard on improving the reliability, UI and accessibility of the app, and it shows. It’s almost a new webapp, with a redesigned dashboard interface and lots of more options, plans and extra apps.

Among these apps the iPhone client, which has been approved by Apple and it’s now available for free in the App Store.
