iCurrency Pad: Not Another Simple Currency Convertor

The fact that I’m based in Italy doesn’t really help out with the management of MacStories advertisement. Being part of the BuySellAds network means that I have to deal with USD payments, which I have to convert everytime in Euros to see how much my income actually is. Which better tool than the iPhone to get a quick overview of currency conversion? There are hundreds of currency apps out there, including the popular Convertbot from Tapbots and Convert.

Today I’ll take a look at a new application that showed up this morning in my inbox, iCurrency Pad.

PositionApp: Keep Track of the Success of Your Apps

Have you ever wanted to know everything about all the App Stores out there? Which Twitter app sells the most in Italy, which note taking software is popular in Japan..that’s very likely if you’re a developer and you’d like to know how your app is going internationally, or if you’re a blogger and you’re always looking for new stuff. There are many applications for iPhone that let you discover new apps, like App Popular and App Saurus (I reviewed both of them here and here), but what about tracking existing applications? DoubleStory: Mailroom, Gmail at your Fingers. Review and Giveaway.

Like Mailplane for the Mac, Mailroom alleviates some of the pain of using a Gmail account on the iPhone or iPod Touch. Using a long, complex password I created in 1Password, it’s a pain in the butt to manually log into Gmail with my credentials each time. Especially when you have multiple accounts. While 1Password does make an iPhone app (that I do have), it’s still not a simple process to log in.

Mailroom allows me to save all of my Gmail credentials in the app, but what makes that different from Apple’s own mail? Federico and I have decided to team up for this review, so you’re going to get a little something special today - a MacStories double team if you will.

Ghostly, Mood Music Monotony

I’m a big fan of things like Last.FM, thesixtyone, and other services that can turn me to new music or help me get into (or out of) certain moods. Ghostly Discovery is a free application that allows me to get into the mood of things. Or at least tries to. On one hand it’s an application that I really want to love. On the other, it’s hard not to look past some obvious pitfalls.

Let’s take a look shall we?

Here, File File! Puts Your Mac on Your iPhone. And It’s Stunning.

There’s one feature I’ve been missing on my iPhone for months now: the ability to easily access all the files on my Mac. Ok, it may sound weird from me to say that I need file access to my desktop computer but, truth be told, you don’t know how many times I’ve wished to stream my movies from the Mac while I’m in bed, or just open a document while I’m out. Sure, there’s Dropbox. But you know, it’s not that I can put everything on Dropbox, or I’ll have a cloud computer and I’ll be 3 years ahead from you. I desperately needed a good solution to access my Mac from my iPhone. And please don’t tell me about those apps out in the App Store, because they just suck. Plain and simple.

Then, when I was about to lost my hope, I watched a video. It was a new app, called “Here, File File!”. Ok, what a weird name I first thought, as the video was loading. The video started. 30 seconds, my jaw dropped.

Here I am, talking about this great piece of software Here, File File! is.
