This afternoon was full of mystery and intrigue. Adventure and possibilities. Mexican and and iPhone-app’ness. Over fine Spanish cuisine, I met with iPhone developer Jeremy Olson (@jerols on Twitter – if you aren’t following him you should) who runs a great blog over at Tapity.
For a few hours, we discussed all things iPhone and iPad, covering everything from marketing, to design, to an app I’d like to share with you all today. Students rejoice, because the age old question of, “What do I need to make on my test to get an A?” has finally ben answered.
Meet Grades.

With this sneak peek comes more than just another iPhone application. While the concept and implementation seems simple enough, the sheer amount of visual depth is something that has to be seen in person. There’s just a lot of striking details that I really appreciated all throughout the app, and without giving away any secrets, let’s just say you’re bound to find a hidden gem or two. It’s beautiful. It’s functional. It’s a must have application for students that’s not out yet, but it’s coming soon.
Perhaps I’ve wetted your whistle, but what if I told you we’re giving away three copies before this app even makes its debut? By following the rules below, you can win this application on launch day. There’s not a better way to make an intro, is there?

I have apps to track my classes. I have apps to track my homework. The one thing I need is an app that will track my grades. I’ve been following the development of Grades for months and drooling over the UI. This WILL be on my home screen the day it comes out whether I win it or not.

I would like to have Grades because keeping up with my class averages has always been difficult. I would really love a nice, clean, robust app that could manage all that for me! This would definitely be an important app for my iPhone’s first app page. xD

Grades would be a fantastic app because my mom wants me to bump up my grades a little bit. I usually get between an 80 – 95%, but she thinks I can do better….so with this app I’d most likely to be able to make my grades even higher.

This definitely looks better than Numbers or Excel files (I record my grades in them, and then use the formula magick to do all the number crunching, oh).
More handy too. Makes sure you never have to miss a grade.

I would love this app. Right now it is almost a guessing game when it comes to the end of the quarter. I have no good way of tracking my grades. I usually don’t know what my grade is until I get my grade. Makes for a pretty stressful couple days after finals. This app would give me a much better idea of how well I need to do on the final to get a certain grade. Look forward to it. I’ll probably be purchasing it if I don’t win here.

For anyone who’d like to be able to calculate GPA using whatever formula your school and the ones you’re applying to use, can I recommend OnScreen GPA Pro? No overlap with the Grades app as far as I can see, and it could be a nice complement to it. OnScreen GPA Pro also makes it easy to see the GPA implications of different future scenarios: easy turning on and off of projected semester results. More details and video at http://nondummies.com/gpa.html.
