Find Something Good To Watch with TV Show Tracker for iPhone

House ended last week. V ended with a red sky. LOST’s finale premiered last night. 24’s last episode ever will go down tonight. With all these wonderful shows ending before the summer season, it’ll become a great time to catch up on other shows and catch great reruns. TV Show Tracker for the iPhone and iPod Touch is pretty fantastic at tracking down something you’re remotely interested in.

While TV Show Tracker won’t replace your TV Guide, if you’re looking for specific shows, it’s pretty useful. Whether you’re looking for the next episode of Glee, a rerun of Heroes, or perhaps NYPD, TV Show Tracker can show you a schedule after a simple search. If you’d like, you can queue up multiple TV shows that suit your fancy.

TV Show Tracker

With a list of shows literally in the palm of your hands, you can swipe through a rather pretty interface to get more information on each specific show. With a simple tap or a swipe, you can scroll through multiple dates and air times, check the calendar, or move between alternate shows. Searches admittedly did take a while as TV Show Tracker went online to find your information, but then again my Internet connection isn’t the greatest. So your mileage may vary, but the ease of use with the interface completely made up for any “loading” times. Though I have to say, I think it’s a little odd how TV Show Tracker brings you to an editing mode once you queue up your shows, but it’s convenient that you can easily remove shows from your list if you accidentally tap the wrong item. Be sure check out the video below for some show tracking goodness.

I’ve been using this application for about a week, and I gotta say, it works great. For $1.99 (iTunes App Store link), you can be the new couch king or queen when your friends ask, “What’s on?” Though it’d be great if this app made buttery popcorn as well, I think its TV features should keep you satisfied - especially if you download an additional widget for your OS X Dashboard.

UPDATE! David Attias, the developer of TV Show Tracker, sent me a reminder via e-mail about the app’s next updates.

“I forgot to tell you about version 2.0 I’m working on and which will be released during the summer before the next major season and which will include much requested features and improvements:

- re-engineered mechanism to browse the previous episodes of a show

- a way to check seen episodes

- a mechanism to be notified about upcoming episodes ( or aired ) without checking the app.

- social networking features”

We look forward to version 2.0, and it should address any gripes you have now. Thanks David!
