Reeder 2.1 Available with Retina Display Support and New Icon

A Reeder for iPhone update in iTunes is always big news. But when everyone’s favorite client gets Retina Display support and a redesigned icon…well, that is huge news.

That’s right, the latest 2.1 update of Reeder introduces full support for the new iPhone 4 display, a shinier icon, some iOS 4 bug fixes. No new features, but I guess it’s ok for now, right? With that screen, Reeder is perfect.

As usual, you can go download the app for $2.99 here.

Japan’s Most Delicious iPhone Cases

I’m still waiting for someone to one-up the whole iPad iDish thing, but this comes pretty close. We’ve learned that eating off of gadgets can be a pretty sensual experience, but sometimes our techno-lust can lead to unpredictable cravings that can only be solved by bacon. If the thought of a Retina Display infused in your morning slice of bacon doesn’t excite those tingling taste buds, then just wait until you see what Japan has in store for us this time.

Apple Launches “Newsstand” and “Radio” Sections in the App Store

So here we are again, talking about new sections Apple has introduced in the App Store. Newsstand and Radio, available here and here, feature applications to, ehm, read news and listen to online radios. Apps such as NYT, Instapaper, Reeder and Pandora, Last.fm and Sirius XM are in there.

Now I’m wondering: how long before a section that showcases apps optimized for the Retina Display? I’m tired of browsing AppShopper for that.

Audiobox.fm iPhone App Approved - Your Cloud Music Goes Mobile

Audiobox.fm is a great online music service I reviewed a while ago while it was in its early stages of development. The developers are based in Italy, and this - compared to the fact that the service was very promising - couldn’t make me happier. During these months the developers have been working hard on improving the reliability, UI and accessibility of the app, and it shows. It’s almost a new webapp, with a redesigned dashboard interface and lots of more options, plans and extra apps.

Among these apps the iPhone client, which has been approved by Apple and it’s now available for free in the App Store.

Things Touch 1.6 Available: Retina Graphics, Multitasking - Still No OTA Sync

Things, the award winning application by Cultured Code to “get things done”, was updated last night to include support for the Retina Display, iOS 4 multitasking, local notifications and Textexpander Touch. The 1.6 update still doesn’t come with OTA (over the air) sync though.

Anyway, the app now looks great on the iPhone 4 display and allows you to keep in the background and quickly come back to it. As for local notifications, they’re pretty useful as they don’t require a server to work. (just like Omnifocus).

Check out the release notes below. Now, it’s up to Cultured Code to implement a great OTA sync feature in the next update. The project is at full speed now. Things Touch is available at $9.99 in the App Store.

Windows Phone 7 Vs. iPhone 3GS [Video]

You may be excited about the upcoming Windows Phone 7 devices, but seriously - what browser is this test unit running? Internet Explorer?

They need a better browser. They need a better user experience (judging from the reviews and videos on websites such as Engadget). Now, I’m curious to see an iPhone 4 Vs. Windows Phone 7.

Digg iPhone App Finally iOS 4 Compatible

A quick yet important update for the official Digg client for iPhone, which reaches version 1.1.2 and introduces iOS 4 support. The app , developed by Digg together with taptaptap, was released some months ago in the App Store and stood at the top chart of free apps for quite a while. It’s a nice app, but there are many other good alternatives around.

Anyway, together with iOS 4 support there are some performance improvements and easier social sharing features. The app is free, go download it here.

An Interview with Saurik [Video]

A few days ago Make Work had the chance to interview Jay Freeman (best known as Saurik), the guy who created Cydia and the jailbreak community as we know it today. He talks jailbreak, exploits, iPhone 4 jailbreak status.

Check out the video below. And remember, jailbreak for iPhone 4 will be released soon. [via iSpazio]
