Get the Most Out of VLC for iPad

We’ve played around with VLC for iPad a bit and have found that most standard definition files work alright. For the most part, your best bet is standard definition AVI files using DiVX. Even at higher bit rates (about 2500kbps), DiVX AVIs seemed to play back smoothly and scrubbing wasn’t an issue. This is great news for BitTorrenters, as most TV shows are already encoded as DiVX AVI and are already optimal for iPad playback in VLC.

Portfolio To Go Is A Simple Flickr Client for iPad & iPhone

Just when I thought I was done with mobile Flickr clients (ok, they’re not as popular as Twitter client, but they’re popular) here comes a new app I’ve just discovered forcing me to re-enter my Yahoo! credentials all over again. Portfolio To Go is a rather minimal and simple which, once given permissions to access your account, lets you quickly check on your profile and photosets. All you get is a “wall” main screen, where you can see all your photos organized in sets, and you also get nice thumbnail previews. Read more



iPad Users Getting Full Google Docs Mobile Editing

Together with the announcement that more than 3 million business have gone Google, the search giant has also confirmed that iPad users will get full mobile Google Docs editing soon. No release date for the new feature has been announced yet.

Right now, if you try to log in Docs from your iPad you only get a viewing interface - so this is great news for anyone who uses Google Docs (like us) every day. Read more


Latest Samsung Galaxy Tab Commercial Reminds Me of Something

For those who don’t know, the Galaxy Tab is the tablet Samsung is set to release soon worldwide - and it runs Android. It also runs Adobe Flash and all the app currently available in the Android Marketplace - even though they’re not build for tablets.

So, for those who also missed the previous software…debate, we have a sparkling new commercial here focused on showing the great features of the Galaxy Tab. It reminds me of something, but I’m really not sure. Check it out below, and please help figuring out this stuff in the comments. Read more
