Journaling applications are great for getting all of your ideas in one place. Lately I’ve been checking out Mémoires by Coding Robots, a Mac & Windows development company that makes some really nifty goodies. Mémoires is sweet because it’s perfect for being lightweight, and it’s super easy to back up your multiple journals to Dropbox or a Flashdrive. Let’s check it out shall we?

Mémoires is an incredibly lightweight journal application for your Mac. When you launch Mémoires for the first time, you create a new journal. Within these journals, you can add new entries (where your content goes). Journals can be encrypted, locked, and by default are saved in your Documents (which means you can easily drag and drop your secret diary to Dropbox).

Memoires

The interface is slick, but if you want to access tools, you’re most likely going to do it from the menubar or via keyboard shortcuts. Similar to MacJournal, you can simply drag and drop images, format text, and look up entries via your calendar. Also available is a simple fullscreen mode that features a convenient exit button. By default everything is in Helvetica, so you can expect great looking text no matter where you are.

Mémoires is an incredibly simple application, though sometimes I wish there was an easier way to organize information. Because separate journals are created as containers which sit in your Documents folder, you might have a lot of journals sitting out there. Instead, I wish everything was contained in a single database so I’d only have to manage a single file, instead of several.

Despite this, Mémoires is super simple, and it’s a great way to get your thoughts and ideas into physical form. Coding Robots was kind enough to give us three licenses to giveaway, so check out the rules below for more information! In the meantime, Mémoires 3 is $29.95 for a single user license. A trial version can be downloaded so you can check it out!

Giveaway

Looking for a way to organize your thoughts? We’ve got three copies of Mémoires we’re willing to share, but you have to leave a comment below telling us why a journaling application would be right for you. UPDATE: The contest ends Monday, May 17th!

While this is designed to be a journaling app, I see it a perfect place to write all of my blog post drafts. I don’t really like making my blog more of a personal journal, but I could choose to publish choice picks from my daily journals.

The app is straightforward: it’s not too complicated like Evernote (what with all the necessary button clicking and tapping just to write a new note!) and not too bare like Simplenote (I could include images if I like, and being able to format is much appreciated). I also like the built in calendar, saves me from all the tags and smart folders I have to create to sort my stuff.

I agree on a better organization interface though.. As the posts gets aplenty I know this will also get a messy. :]

A simple app fit for my relatively simple needs; that’s why I would really like to have an app like this one.

Have a nice day. Ciao! :]

I’ve been pretty much using twitter as a micro blog, and I even have an app to download all my old tweets so that I can read all my past things whenever I want.

But lately i’ve been feeling that 140 characters aren’t enough. I have lots of thoughts I’d like to start to keep track of but I don’t necessarily want to start a blog (not yet anyway). This app seems to be perfect for my needs.

I think journaling is a great way yo organize your life. I used to procrastinate a lot until I started to write a daily journal. It was a reality check for me and now I am a lot more productive.

Mémoires might be an interesting alternative to my Taskpaper approach.
