picturesque-icon-512x512Photoshop is without a doubt a great piece of software. Powerful, versatile, it has got a lot of features.
Maybe too many features.
How many times have you wished to put a shadow to an image but you didn’t know how to do it?
Acqualia’s Picturesque tries to solve this problem, presenting a very clear and simple interface and a few effects that should make your lives easier when it comes to edit a large number of images all in one place.

Overview

over1
Picturesque has got 5 effects and 2 main features.
That’s it.
Don’t call it poor: the Acqualia team wanted to create a simple and user-friendly app, not a Photoshop alternative, but a companion.
Picturesque really comes in handy when you have to quickly edit (not create!) or batch export images for your website / blog, presenting a nice list of effects which is are clearly visible in its bottom toolbar.
You don’t have to mess with transparencies and layer masks,
Picturesque will do it for you.

Effects

- Perspective: One of the best effects of Picturesque, it lets you get your image into a 3D perspective. Easy and functional, you can adjust Rotation and Elevation settings.
perspect
Curve: this is one of the coolest effects of Picturesque. It lets cut out curves on any angles of your images, adjusting the curvature pixels settings. Coupled with Reflection, it will you image stand out.
Reflection : the Reflection tool lets you add a drop reflection to your images. While a reflection is quite a difficult feature in many other image editors (you have to create layer masks and mess around with gradient tool) it is built-in in Picturesque. You can adjust Lenght, Opacity and Offset.
refle
- Shadow: adds a shadow around your images. There’s even a glow effect which puts a light halo around your image, which is pretty cool.
- Stroke: the Stroke tool enables you to add a line to your images. You can decide the style (Inside, Outside, Centered) the width and the color.
If combined with a drop shadow it creates a nice photo frame effect.
stroke
- Crop: a basic crop function.

Features

Presets: this feature lets you save the adjustments in a preset which you can apply to your images in the future. Useful to keep your blog images consistent.

- Saving: You can then save  images as a PNG (including transparencies), or as a Jpeg or TIFF.

You can also use Save All menu as a simple batch resizer.

The Interface

apple-design-award
Together with Effects, interface is what makes Picturesque so cool. Written in Cocoa, it provides some nice Core Animations effects and integration with iLife Media Browser and Dock.

You can select a picture from your iPhoto library or even drag & drop images onto the dock icon to make Picturesque load them.

On launch, it loads a small grey window where you can drop one or more images.

In Conclusion

I love Picturesque. It’s dead simple and it’s got a great UI. It could offers more features and effects but I think it’s already perfect this way. Some effects, presets and batch.

A terrific time saver for bloggers, web designers or simply people who have to quickly edit a large numer of images everyday.

Cosa fa

Picturesque  presenta 5 effetti e 2 features principali
Tutto qua.
over

refle
- Shadow: crea un’ ombra sotto le immagini. Molto ben fatto.

Siete soliti inserire bordi o angoli arrotondati?
- Saving: You can then save images as a PNG (including transparencies), or as a Jpeg or TIFF.

Comodo.

In Conclusione

Amo Picturesque.

Semplice, utile e bellissima UI.

I first heard about Picturesque when it was in this year’s Macheist bundle and it was one of the few apps that really wowed me in that bundle. I unfortunately couldn’t afford the heist at the time so I never got it but would love a copy of it to play with my endless amounts of photos. Thanks for the opportunity. http://twitter.com/MennoMan/status/2134167288

I posted this on my Twitter feed. I think the main reason I would like a copy of this app is for work use. I’m a journalist, and I edit and touch up a lot of photos because our photo department is backlogged. Photoshop is expensive…too expensive for our company to provide it to anyone BUT the photo department, so I have to make do with very limited programs that I find on my own. Something like this would certainly make my job and life a lot easier!

Hi, I posted the link on my twitter feed which also shows up on my blog (www.twitter.com/rajatmittal). I just recently got a MacBook and I do not currently have any good photo/image editing tool. Photoshop has always been too complex to use and there are a number of things I want to use Picturesque for.
    1. I want to edit my wedding photographs and make a photo from it
    2. I am a web developer by profession but not a web designer. Picturesque will equip me with the tools to modify images that i may buy from iStock or make some on my own for use in my web projects
    3. I recently purchased a PogoSketch and I hope to take up a little bit more on creating the designs for paintings digitally before putting them on a canvas. Picturesque will be a perfect companion to allow me to do all of the above.

Thanks for sharing information on your product and I look forward to hearing back from you.

    Thanks,
    Rajat
