@Marcelo Campiglia, check out "Leap" from Ironic Software...it's exactly what you describe: a combo of Finder (only better and much more powerful) and a tagging app.

I use a combination of Leap, EagleFiler, and ShoveBox. ShoveBox keeps all the small, fleeting data that I just need to refer back to in a few hours or days. That way, my EagleFiler DB doesn't get filled up with useless junk. EagleFiler keeps all my archives...things I want to keep around for a long time. Leap is my everyday file browser. ShoveBox could easily be replaced by Yojimbo in my workflow, but I wouldn't trade EagleFiler for Yojimbo...that's for sure.

Hello, Great article. I have tried many times lost of information managers (Together, EagleFiler, Evernote, Yojimbo, etc.) and the ones that worked better for me were Together and EagleFiler. But every time i tried them i always came to the same conclusion and that is that i prefer a combo of Finder and a tagging app, or an app that does the two functions. The problem is that i think that there is not such app for Mac.

It would be great if you could do an in depth review of Together, EagleFiler and Tags 2 (is in beta right now). Thank you and congratulations for the Blog, it is one of the best Mac blogs right now.

Is there a way to sync notes to something accessible (and editable) from the iPhone?

I'd like to create a (text) note in yojimbo and then to be able to edit that note from the iPhone.

I used Yojimbo for months but ended up moving to Together. Very good article though. I may even archive it in Together :D

@Bryan, Thanks for the comment Bryan. Seems like we have different point of view: I'm totally into the Library of Yojimbo. Mainly because I can add items to the Library and forget about them (e.g. delete them).

Anyway, maybe I'll give an in-depth look at Together in the future as well.

Nice write up. I too tried to like and use Yojimbo, but I decided to go with Together. One of the things I like about Together is it doesn't keep everything in a library. Instead it maintains a folder structure which means I can save everything in a Dropbox folder. And with the Dropbox iPhone app, I can access anything that I save in Together on my iPhone, something you can't do with Yojimbo.
