White iPhone in UK Store? It Was a Review Unit.

Two days ago we posted a rumor about white iPhone units appearing in UK and US stores. A Sky News video indeed showed some people in a UK store using a white iPhone 4, but some followers of mine on Twitter confirmed that they saw Apple Store employees with a white unit in the US, too.

Now, it turns out that the woman in the video with an iPhone 4 was Telegraph’s Claudine Beaumont and that was her review unit:

“The woman in the clip talking about the iPhone 4 is Claudine Beaumont, our Technology Editor, and the white iPhone 4 in her hand is the review unit that Apple gave us. Claudine tells me that she was offered a choice of a white or black handset and decided on white. Inexplicably she also chose to decorate it with a horrible green bumper but that’s beside the point.”

What about the US stores though? My guess is, there are some review units and units for employees, and the July launch will feature both black and white models. [via AppAdvice]
